that's what I was thinking. At times it looks cool but there were scenes in the trailer that looked hokey (them standing out on the cliff). If the story is halfway decent they could pull it off.
so i went to the premiere last night and the movie was far better imo than 300 when it comes to the story but that still not saying too much the story wasnt the strongest of course but considering the scope of the film I thought it was fine, it could have been a lot worse. The special effects, visual and action though were simply stunning. The visuals especially were amazing one of the best looking movies I have seen. AND it was probably the best movie I have seen in 3D and that is including avatar. The 3D was great on this film and really enhanced everything about the film and it wasnt just some silly gimmick. Would recommend seeing this film in the theaters if you can...it may have been just the "theater" we saw it in since it was the Nokia theater (more of a awards/concert hall) but the sound was awesome and exceptionally loud especially the bass you could feel every single punch, strike etc. Spoiler [img]http://i40.tinypic.com/2a6s0v4.jpg][/img] one thing that i hate about going to premieres is that they never let my phone inside since it has a camera on it so this was the only picture I was able to take of my ticket when I picked it up at will call after that I had to return my phone to my car
Great to hear Yoyo, really looking forward to this, gonna have to check it out Friday before we head out to Austin.
^ Of late, these "historical adventure" films can always be counted on for delivering revolutionary visual editing effects, like 300 and their modernized version of the bleach bypasss. I really like visual presentation of immortals. That said, it seems like all you have to do is stick the words "Glory" and "Pain" and you have yourself a script for these films. But Freida Pinto is in it, really in it, so it's not that bad.
I'm really excited about seeing this. South Asians better come out and support their own like they did for Slumdog Millionaire and those god aweful Bollywood films thay play on HWY 6.
Wow. This is better than 300 and Clash of the Titans. I can't say enough about the visuals. Freaking gory and violent. ...and grade A Frieda Pinto body double T&A!
it's not bad, not great either, didn't give me the 'heroic' feeling of 300, but i think it's because it's different rather than coming up short Spoiler acting was quite terrible, looked like a 1970s movie with 2011 technology, story was meh, but most of us didn't watch this movie because of the acting or story the action was quite good, especially the gods vs titans, i wish they had explained which god is which, because apart from zues, athena and poseiden, i couldn't name another god, and why do they all look like models? which god did zues kill? another thing was, *giggidy* for a movie with R rating and this kind of setting... the lack of nudity is disappointing
Saw this last night. The costume and set design are amazing. I really liked how the gods looked, including their physiques. Very different than other pseudo-legend movies like Clash of the Titans. The action and fighting is really good. The cgi is amazing. The 3D is as good as I've seen. The plot is kind of choppy, with some bad editing. Some of the plot just doesn't make sense. It's dark and super gory. I liked it. I don't think it was better than 300, but other than being set in Greece, they are very different movies. Spoiler I think the god that Zeus killed for breaking the law was Apollo. The gods fighting were the best part of the movie, IMO Poseidon taking a dive from Olympus into the ocean was awesome. That's how they should do Superman flying in the next Superman movie.
they could have made it better there were some scenes out of place imo, but the movie was solid. And ironically the gods part wasn't weird like it was in the trailer. I likedit.
