Rome said they have been trying to track him down for days so hopefully this is the day he makes it on. Maybe Francis can straighten Rome out on Yao.
Of course, he's been saying that every day now for about a week, and apparently every day SF has not been on the show as promised.. So hopefully today they will actually hook up.
I loved the story of his rookie season when Stevie thought he was being all fresh in a complete denim outfit, Hakeem asked if he was driving the bus... Stevie asked, "Why?" Hakeems answer, "because you look like a bus driver in that outfit!" The entire bus broke out in laughter!
I listen to Rome a lot when driving around. It seems he gets most of his info from online newspapers and such. All the questions he asked (Francis, bus driver, yada yada) seemed to be retreads of stuff we've all know about. Also, how many times during the interview did he say "Steve Francis joining us" and "Finally, Steve...".
I just caught the tail end of the interview. Francis said Yao is just like any other 22 year old. Also said they don't expect or need him to dominate this season, just contribute. He said Yao is a really good guy with a good sense of humor. Also talked about how he's been on him from day one to dunk it when he is in close.
Well, we all know this stuff because we are dedicated Rockets fans, but people accross the entire country and in Canada probably don't know as much about Francis as we do. It was a Francis Interview, so of course Yao wasn't the focus, but trust me, what Rome asked was very important and I wish the poeple who got on Steve before the draft could have all heard what he had to say. One question was about how he spends time with Yao on and off the court, giving him rides in his Hummer. Francis said that it is important to make Yao feel welcome and comfortable with his teammates to help him out so that in return, he will be able to help the team out. This was the best one for me, Rome asked Steve if he was willing to wait for Yao to develope even if it took a few years. Francis said point blank, "Yes, I'm willing to wait." He said that the Orginization was patient with him, so of course he's gonna be patient with Yao. He also said that Yao was coming along nicely and that he could start reaching his full potential this year.
cool. So glad Yao finally broke out...just wish i could have seen it, or atleast highlights. well, looking forward to the game against mavs, will see that one.
Steve is a very humble guy it sounds like. Do you think, however, all of the attention on Ming is feeding Francis's scoring dominance on the court so he can regain the light? Or do you think he has just finally put it all together, become an ultimate team leader, is healthy, and is ready to win? I for one believe it is the latter of the two. Francis is ready to win it all, and I think he finally realizes the potential of this organization and that he has to be one to lead it into the soon, near future for our young, talented players to follow.
I think the time has come, he sees how he must lead the team, and that he is the leader. The rocks are headed to the playoffs, something Francis and the Rocks are drooling for.
