Breaking Bad and The Wire are better dramas, and Doctor Who is better sci-fi. So no, not at all.

They made him a woman, the show would have been twice as popular if they had not made that mistake.

The best scifi show ever is Inspector Spacetime:

As with lot of other Sci-fi shows, too much religious elements in the show. Otherwise it is great.

If you're talking about best tv Sci-Fi it would be Star Trek Next Generation and Lexx for me.

Agreed. The last 1-2 seasons of BSG were unwatchable for me. Hated what they did with Baltar (spelling?).

    Not one Sopranos mention?

I'm sorry, but Breaking Bad isn't touching it. The Wire is very good, though, and may compete. Deadwood is right there too. Haven't seen OZ.

Frasier. In my opinion no show can touch that, it was solid the entire run.

Find another show that can keep you laughing continuously for 10 years.

    The Rockford Files.

Far from a standard detective show. Three of the best writers in the business, one of whom went on to create The Sopranos (David Chase). One of the best, most subtle actors in the business (James Garner), a 2-time Emmy winning supporting actor (Stuart Margolin), plots that were entertaining on the surface but extremely complex underneath ("Counter Gambit" alone gives you a headache with about 8 different plot twists), and dialogue that was close to literature (references to Shakespeare, Dickens, the Bible, Greek mythology, etc.). And all wrapped up in an unorthodox detective show. Best show ever.

I loved this show, and it was WAY ahead of its time, but The Wire is slightly better to me.

I still remember the Rockford Files theme song though, which says something... I think.

I don't cotton to Breaking Bad, but then I didn't make it out of the first four episodes. If I want hyper-violent meth lab people, I'll rewatch Winter's Bone a few times. At least there's a character I can pull for in that one.

What makes the Sopranos special or different from any other mob movie/show that came before it? I have only seen 2 episodes, but I didn't find it very original or entertaining. I'd really like someone to explain the appeal to me.

    Does this look right...

    Miniseries (pilot)
    Seasons 1-2.5
    The Resistance (webisode)
    Season 3
    Razor
    Season 4.0
The Face of the Enemy (webisode)
    Season 4.5
    The Plan
    Caprica (prequel)

or would you change the placement of the webisodes, or anything else?

You would think that the Rockford Files is just a good detective show just like all the others like Columbo, Baretta, Kojak, etc. And not to put down Columbo, cause it was a great show, but just from something simple as episode titles tells you something about the shows:

    Columbo, season 5:
    Forgotten Lady
    Identity Crisis
    A Matter of Honor
    Now You See Him
    A Case of Immunity

    Rockford Files, Season 5:
Three Day Affair with a 30-Day Escrow
    Local Man Eaten By Newspaper
With the French Heel Back, Can The Nehru Jacket Be Far Behind?
White on White and Nearly Perfect
Never Send a Boy King To Do a Man's Job
Sticks and Stones May Break Your Bones, But Waterbury Will Bury You

You just know there's something different about that show.

More bizarre Rockford Files episode titles:

    Dwarf in a Helium Hat
    Quickie Nirvana
    Requiem for a Funny Box
    2 into 5.56 Won't Go
The Oracle Wore a Cashmere Suit
The Trees, The Bees, and T.T. Flowers
The Man Who Saw The Alligators
Tall Woman in a Red Wagon
    The Farnsworth Strategem
    New Life, Old Dragons
Rosendahl and Gilda Stern Are Dead
The Battle-Ax and the Exploding Cigar

You have to be really creative or on some serious drugs (hey, it was the 70s, after all) to come up with stuff like this.
