When I first found this sight, everyone was going nuts over the prospect of bringing in Austin Croshere. Since then, the talk has shifted towards speculation as to whether or not Cat would resign with us or go to that Canadian team. Then Croshere seemed to be pushed further into the back of our collective subconscience with the play of our supposed rookie sensation, Dan "The Man" Langhi. And now he's been all but forgotten with the talk of the possibility of getting PJ Brown or (heaven help us) Anthony Mason. Now, I'm not meaning this to be a topic centered around the virtues of Austin Croshere, or even a recycling of earlier debates..... I'm simply wondering where everyone stands now. It's "FA signing Eve." What do you think and/or hope is going to happen? Personally, I'd like to see Cat resign as quickly as possible (as he said his decision would be made public tommorrow) and PJ Brown follow soon thereafter. I think Brown would help us more. However, I have to admit that I'm not familiar with his contract situation and would like to make a play for Webber next year. Therefore, I ask you all......

    Whaddaya think?

I couldn't care less about being under the cap next year. The FA class is very thin next year, and the top prospects are unlikely to come to Houston. There are other reasons why it's nice to be under the cap for a while, but FAs are the big reason and the won't be there.

Otherwise, I'm expecting the Rockets to sign Mobley quickly and then not make a peep for a while. After everyone's been moaning about it for a while, they will use the exception to trade for someone who is currently under contract to start at PF. Check this thread again when the exception expires to see how clsoe I am.

I'm with Juan on this one. Being under the cap next year (Dream retiring) is a given. We have a possibility of having 4 first round picks in next years draft. That draft will be much deeper than this years. We should be able to draft a good player who will step in and help us right away.

These fantasy's of signing Webber are just that, Fantasy's.

I too see the signing of Webber as pure fantasy. To pass up a legitimate talent this year in hopes the Webber might possibly sorta wanna come here would be careless. If we can pick up a solid player in next years "deep" draft and a solid player via the exception this offseason, then we should be in good shape.

Wow, keep this up and we may soon make calendars obsolete...Clutchcity.net: your source for late-breaking Rockets news....and to find out what day it is!!

Anyways, the top priority for Houston tomorrow is to get Mobley locked up to a deal as soon as possible. Personally, I don't think Webber is going anywhere...He seems to have taken a liking to Jason Williams and Sacramento, and will probabably with them...Everyone is worried about getting a big man, but no one wants to come here...

Every free agent wants to sign with ORLANDO for some godly reason...Hey everyone!! We have an amusement park also!! It's called ASTROWORLD, and it's a helluva bargain compared to Disneyworld or Epcot

Signing Mobes is #1. If Kenny Hand is right, that's done. The Rocks should look at the FA market. I'm not against bringing in someone (Croshure, Outlaw, Lewis, Miller), if they are part of the plan for the future.

If we could trade the exception for someone who's contract expires next year, that could help w/ cap room.

Trade Williams. At over 10mil for the next 2 years, ouch. Maybe a playoff team looking for another scorer might want him.

In a few days we will know all the answers.

You who i REALLY wanted in Houston?

    Brian Grant.

I really can´t understand why we are not even trying yo get the guy.

The exception + a BIG payoff next year doesn´t sound like a bad offer to me.

Grant would fit in perfectly with the Rockets.

It´s a shame that we are not even trying.

Or maybe we are, and i just don´t know about it...

I mean, getting webber is just wishful thinking.

Grant, on the other hand, doesn´t sound NEARLY as far-fetched.

    any thoughts on this?

Thanos, there is no way in hell that I would pay Brian Grant the 10mil/year that he wants. The only reason he would sign for the exception is to be a contender. If that were the case he would be house hunting in LA right now.

Thanos, Brian Grant wants 9 to 10 mil a year. There is no way he is worth that much. I don't see why teams are willing to pay that much for him. If he got 35 min. a night he would probably be a 15point 10 reb. guy. No way that is worth 10 mil a year. Plus the rockets already are going to give Shandon and Cat a big payoff after next season. It wouldn't be good if we added Grant on our payroll. That would kill our chances to get Lewis or any other Free Agent next year. PLus than we would have big time cap problems for the next few years, and we would have to resign Stevie.

Just sign Cat, and dont get any players that would mess up our cap next years free agency.
