I have to move to Dallas for work. I know absolutely nothing about places to live. I have a few job offers from companies in Lewisville, Coppell or North Dallas. Any advice on where to move for a young single guy(35 yrs old) moving to DFW? I can afford $900-$1100. I want to be close to the single ladies and the night life. I also need advice on what areas to avoid(e.g. crime central). I would like to be within half an hour of the airport to fly back down to Houston, if I don't feel like driving. Thanks for your help!

Uptown has the best bars in Dallas though its been a while since I've been out there........ That would be a heck of a drive though
Why do y'all do this crap? Live in a city. Whole life and known places and neighborhood are there. Lose job. Look for work. Cannot find job. Find permanent job in city where there's no family, friends, known places and without relocation help from employer? WTF

Addison, which is on the N Dallas border. Dallas is vastly smaller in scope than Houston, so you would be fairly close to Love field. There are two airports though, and the other is towards Ft Worth. Speaking of FT Worth, I think it's vastly nicer/classier/more cultured and has a much nicer nightlife along 7th street and downtown for young professionals. Something to think about.
Stay away from Plano or Richardson. Boring as hell and cluttered with chain restaurants. I'm so glad I don't have visit the company's Dallas office anymore. [obligatory]the best part of going to Dallas is I-45 South back to Houston[/obligatory]
the young professionals live in uptown area. there are some apartment complexes that most live off of knox henderson near j blacks, or off of 75 and hall.
Good for you OP. Have fun in DFW. I lived in both Coppell and Lewisville but recently left the metroplex. I'd recommend the Las Colinas area off of 114. There's a bunch of fairly new apartments that are pretty decent and you're within a few minutes of downtown, Love field (to get your SWA flight to Houston), DFW airport North Dallas, Lewisville and Coppell, etc. Addison and Uptown are also decent recommendations.
This is how a very large percentage of professionals change jobs. I worked in Omaha for nine years, there were only three or four other local companies in our industry and none of them wanted me. If you're applying for an out of town job - even in your own company - and you're not a senior manager or lack special skills, the company assumes they can get local candidates and won't waste time with you; your stock answer is that "you would accept it if offered, but have enough saved up that you can move on your own." Some of the stuff I hear baby boomers say about their careers: never had to take an interview, getting good corporate jobs right out of high school, just don't make any damn sense.
Yeah North Oak Cliff he could probably fit in. There are caucasians with some wealth around there. But I figure you're really talking 'bout South Oak Cliff "That's my hood!"
