How private are you on the internet?

I am personally very private or at least take minimal precautions.
To an extent I wonder if I am overly so.
[I don't post or allow myself to be tagged in pictures on facebook]
I generally never put accurate birthday information into things
    etc etc etc

At other points I maybe a bit laxed. I guess
    [I post here every day ;) ]

    Is it just paranoia?
    I generally think . . . or logically reason . . . I am not exactly Bill Gates
i.e. Not important enough for folx to stalk and or bother with

yet . . I have not reach a comfort level with my image
and info being so readily available to the whole world
FOREVER!! to be manipulated and changed

[Ever see those PEOPLE OF WALMART photos!! ]
What are your ideas on you . . Internet representation and image?

Nothing to hide, nothing to fear. As long as it is not offensive or insulting, I don't mind sharing personal information with someone.

I've exchanged personal emails with lots of peeps in this BBS, anyway, so now many know my name.

Also, I don't give out EVERYTHING as far as personal information, like my mom's maiden name or my elementary school name, etc. I don't share anything about any other person unless I have their permission.

If everyone knew personal details about everyone else they would be inclined to be more civil, I believe.

Maybe. . . NO MORE SECRETS! [Name that Movie!]

I must say I admire your bravery [and sense of humor]
    To do your PodCast.
You take alot of ribbing about it . . . and seem to be ok with it.

I'm with Mr. Pony on this one.

As it relates to the bbs, I'm sure anyone with half a brain and an inclination could find out all sorts of things about me. I don't mind that, but I do try to be mindful when I talk about other people in my life to make it unlikely that their identities could be discerned.

If you're right, then you're both wrong, because the quote from Sneakers is "Too Many Secrets"

That or "Cooty's Rat Semen," I can't remember.

I'm so private online that my son and some of my friends laugh at me. I don't care.

DD, your point about civility is probably true in general, but I'll continue to be both civil and private. People who live vicariously as rude online trolls are pathetic IMO. If a person is secure with who they are in life, there is no need to act differently online covered by anonymity.

I use a different e-mail account and name just for craigslist, due to the preponderance of spammers and scam artists you get on there. I don't want my real inbox getting too clogged up with crap.

Other than that I'm not all that cautious.

I am similar. I guess we shall term it .. Internet Shy
[cause I am not overly shy in person]

I cannot stand people with . . ALTERNATE Internet personalities
Sometimes I think . . . Anonymity just allows you to be the A-Hole
you wish you could be in real life.
Be and A-hole without any reprocussions.
