I finally had to visit this thread when I went outside for about 2 minutes and had my legs completely swarmed. Ridiculous.
yeah, been getting swarmed here too. For the past day or two it's been getting worse and worse. I fear this is only the beggining. The eggs have been dormant because of the drought, but now they are all coimng out at once.
No skeeters here downtown. My place was inundated with them a few months ago during the dry spell, though. Something to do with the sprinkler system and soil type on site causing them to flock over here. I had to sleep with a blanket draped over my bed like a mosquito net for a while, horrible...
Fun driving to work with 5 different ones paying tag one me. I looked like I was spazzing out while driving, swatting at everything and yelling insanely loud. When I rolled the windows down they would just ride it out by clinging to my shirt. Little ****s.
Thought it was just me. Walked through a field and have bites all over my arms. Been fighting them off since (even at school, UH main campus).
With the mosquitoes really getting out of hand the past few days do you'll have any recommendations on how to keep them away? We picked up a can of Hotshot flying bug killer spray and it works okay but of course dozens more will get past the door whenever we let our dogs out. Do those burning oils and things really work???
We had dinner on the deck yesterday thanks to and Still got a few bites but the swarm is not not at our house
I got ate up all weekend and I'm sitting on the 33rd floor of an office building in downtown and I just saw one flying through the office.

From the article... Floodwater mosquitoes, which can lay eggs that won't hatch for years until sated by a drink of water, are to blame for the recent surge in bites across the city. They usually live a few weeks but can fly five to 10 miles.
they are AWFUL! I have so many bites. I have to put non toxic bug spray on my dog every time he goes outside and it doesn't seem to help! I can't put OFF on him because it's toxic. I even tried putting lemongrass and lavender essential oils and they didn't help.
