I gotta go with Brady. He's never had the best supporting cast on offense, and his defense is typically charmin every other year. Plus he's probably got a 4th quarter QBR that is off the damned charts. Rodgers, on the other hand, has been driving a ferrari for the most part... and has very little in the way of of a clutch resume.
Clearly Aaron Rodgers, Brady can't make the throws this guy makes and is a statue in the pocket. Rodgers has a QB Rating of 141 on out of pocket passing. He's mobile, and he's won a meaningful game in the past 4 seasons.
Rodgers right now. How can you argue with that? The guy just won a SB, his team is 2 levels ahead of everybody else. The guy is playing perfect football right now. Brady is #2 though. But seeing what is happening to Indy, really makes Manning the MVP of the league this year.
He did have Randy Moss, arguably the second-greatest WR to ever play the game, Wes Welker, an All-Pro and three-time Pro-Bowler, Corey Dillon, who rushed from 1600+ yds when they won the SB in 2004, and the Pat's D has been top-8 in the NFL or better 8 out of the last 10 years. He won the SB last year with zero running game and no TE. He's never had a dominant running back. His only legit #1 wideout has been Jennings. He had a terrible O-line in 2009, getting sacked 50 times, and still threw for 4400 yards with 30 TDs and 7 picks. This is the first year that Rodgers has had all of his weapons at his disposal, and as a result he's basically putting up historic numbers. He's surpassed Brady.
Past 4 seasons? He's only been starting 3 full seasons so far. The only two games in Aaron Rodgers' career in which he has lead a 4th quarter comeback was week 1 in 2009 @ Chicago (I count this as meaningful because it got them the wildcard later that year), and week 17 in 2010 @ Chicago when the Bears were resting literally all of their starters since they had clinched (meaningful because it got them the wildcard, but almost embarrassing that they nearly lost that game 17-10 and Rodgers played particularly poor).
Since Brady took over the Patriots, their defense has been ranked 15th on average. Some great years, some crap years. Up and down. "Zero running game and no TE" sounds like Brady for the majority of the last decade, whereas that's only Rodgers for 1 year. Dillon had one decent year. Everybody thought Moss was trash when he went to NE, and Brady and company made him into a world-beater again. You act as if Donald Driver is garbage, when he was obviously talented and productive before Rodgers got there, and beyond. Welker, much like Moss, wasn't thought of as much until he got with Brady. Packers defense: 2009 - 2nd 2010 - 5th For me, the jury is out on Rodgers until I see him put up this kind of stuff across the span of an entire decade. Tom has already done it, he is a proven king maker, just like Peyton Manning (whom I think is better than both of them). So I have to default to him. The future looks bright for Aaron, making guys like James Jones and Jordy Nelson into household names, but I want moar evidence than just 1 year.
Or when your defense and special teams are kicking ass and not coughing up leads. Like I said, go look at Aaron's 4th quarter stats. Not as impressive as you might think.
Specifically, what does Brady do as a quarterback that Rodgers doesn't do just as well, or better? What throws can he make that Rodgers can't? Does he make his reads quicker? Does he do a better job of finding the open man or a weakness in the D That "get back to me in 10 years" crap is such a cop out. We're not talking about legacy, we're talking about who's the better QB right now. You say Brady is better right now, fine. But let's hear some tangible reasons why.
Um, same could apply to you. Give me some tangible reasons why Rogers is better than Brady. It's a matter of opinion, dude, don't go getting all huffy and demanding some kind of "tangible" evidence when it's a subjective argument based solely on opinion. I can't take a blood sample and measure the amount of quarterbacking genes they have. I think Tom Brady is a better quarterback. Simple as that. And I say that as a *huge* Rogers fan. Don't like it? Spoiler
He's as good or better in the pocket and exponentially better throwing on the run, with the additional ability to pick up yards on the ground. Your turn.
Brady revived Moss' career... What did Welker do in Miami? I'll tell you what he did -- he kicked extra points and was an extra in a Hobbit movie. Brady created Welker. Branch. Did he ever even leave NE? You wouldn't know, because he definitely didn't do anything positive for any other teams in the meantime.
Cool opinion bro. I disagree with the first assertion, and I'm not interested in changing your mind. So, that's that.
