Kenny Thomas is a liability on the court. And I mean that.

Okay, maybe KT isn't starter material. But he is solid. He can create his own shot sometimes, more importantly he plays hard every time down the court. 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists is not bad for an off game. He will play tough D and crash the boards.

PLEASE do not start Mo "1 Rebound Average" Taylor. In over 30 minutes in 2 games of playing, he now has a TOTAL of 2 rebounds. Collier has 4 rebounds in just 11 minutes!!!

Man KT tries a lot but we don't need him, trade him for some picks next year and I'd be real happy. He's the type of players that needs to be the man on the team to succeed i.e. dominate the ball in the post. He was able to do that last year with all the injuries but we're a much much more talented team this year and he'd messed up our offenses.

I'd have to disagree. He is FAR from a liability on the court. Other than SF last night, KT was one of the few rocks taking it to suns and challenging the d. Mo T did look nice, but KT can play small forward and Griff can't imo. At least not on d.

Only problem with KT imo is he has to force it sometimes cuz there isn't that much movement freeing up anyone away from the ball. I'd rather him try and go up the middle than rely on a fadeaway jumper like some of the other rocks do.

Crisco, didn't you get the idea that he was forcing way too many shots last night. Kenny made Cuttino look like Jason Kidd last night (I realize that Kenny had +1 in the assists, but I'm talking relatively). Kenny was jack last night, so much that Rudy was waving his hands "nooooonnonooo".

I am going to try to change your mind, but it probably won't work.

So you think it is an advantage when "KT takes it to the Suns and challenges their defense. How it is an advantage when he can't even make those driving layups against solid basketball teams.

And what is this notion that KT can play the small forward. As Johnny Mac would say "you can't be serious!". KT cannot shoot people!! A small forward needs to be able to shoot from long distance. How hard is this to figure out. These are basketball basics. Eddie Griffin is more of a SF than Thomas is because he is long, skinny, and can shoot the ball. He stretches out the defense.

You people who think Eddie is not suitable for the 3 position have no clue what is going on. Horry was a shot-blocker when he played for the Rockets and played the 3 most of the time. Eddie is in the same mold.

Please, get off of KT's nutsack!

I agree, Eddie can play the Small forward position if he has too. He can allways do quickness drills to get alittle more quickness in his game. Plus JBIIRockets, said a good point. KT can shot anywhere from the floor, atleast Eddie can drain his shot.

He may create his own shots at times, but he misses around 75 percent of them against the quality teams of the league. You know something, players can PLAY HARD and still amount to nothing on the court. Just look at Kevin Willis. So playing HARD is not an advantage if they continue to produce badly missed jumpshots and FTs.

KT's shortcomings override his strengths. I can't wait until he is gone.

As for MO T, he holds his own on the boards. I believed he averaged 6 boards on 2001 compared to KTs 7 in 2002. The Rockets locked him up for a while, so he is not going anywhere. And he wil be starting pretty soon, despite your objection.

MO T is not a drop off when replacing KT because he is a better offensive player.

I thought he was bricking too many shots last night, but with the exception of a couple of plays, I don't think he was forcing too much.

But rebounding isn't our problem. We could stand to lose a little bit on rebounding if it wil help give us a more cohesive offensive unit.

I'm on his nutsack? Please. Your hatred is obviously blinding you to a quality player(guess everyone has to have a scapegoat including po JB3). Griff may be able to play sf on offense, but on D he is not quick enough to guard sfs. KT may not be able to shoot the 3, but he does have a decent mid-range j(wasn't falling last nite tho) and is versatile enough to either post up or drive against most sfs in the league, while playing good d on them.

And no, you're not going to change anyone's mind by acting like an *******.

    In conclusion, bite me.

Wow, taking it to a personal level huh? Well I don't think any Rockets fans are assholes. Although that was pretty classless on your part. It's funny how most of the people in this thread agree with me by the way, which shows you could be overlooking how unreliable Kenny can be.

Of course you not going to change yout mind. you ego is to big for that.

And it's JBII/JB2, not JB3, so perhaps you are the blind one.

And your wrong. Kt does not have a "decent midrange j" Opposing teams invite him to take that shot, knowing it is the best way to stop him. Plus it never never falls on the road against the solid teams of the NBA. Just because he can post up and drive doesn't mean he is an effective player. Too many misses layups and ugly brick jumpers for my liking.

Fortunately the Rockets did not pick up the option, and hopefully that means his ass will be out of town soon.

pot, kettle. kettle, pot. whatever dude you started that crap with the nutsack comment and talking down to me. Real class on your part. Oh, and I said you were acting like an *******, not that you were one. Big difference oh blind one. I don't really care if the people in this thread agree with me or not, I was just stating my opinion.

Of course you not going to change yout mind. you ego is to big for that.

yah I have such a big ego. Like I said, one half assed rude post isn't going to change my mind regarding Kenny. If he keeps bricking like that all year, yeah, but if he does he'll be riding the pine til he's gone anyway. fyi, not that it matters, but I've changed my opinion numerous times on rockets personel descisions and evaluation, sometimes due to people's posts on the board(verse with Shandy, BGM with Marc Jackson stand out). This is NOT one of those times, sorry.

And it's JBII/JB2, not JB3, so perhaps you are the blind one.

    my bad.

And your wrong. Kt does not have a "decent midrange j" Opposing teams invite him to take that shot, knowing it is the best way to stop him. well i flat out disagree with your assessment. can you handle that w/o getting all pissy about it? Or is your ego too big to accept someone not agreeing with you? Do you want me to pat you on the back like a few of the first posters in this thread did? Clap, clap JB. Bravo.

Fortunately the Rockets did not pick up the option, and hopefully that means his ass will be out of town soon.

    that could very well happen.

KT is an adequate starting SF for the Rockets. I have a feeling the rockets are just using him as a insurance policy if Nachbar doesn't work out though. If Nachbar starts showing enough improvement that he will eventually grown into the future starting SF then Kenny will not be offered a contract next year. A sharp shooting Nachbar will more likely improve the offensive flow of the Rockets than the one-on-one game of KT.

I agree with you on KT's shortcomings, especially how he does against tough opposing power forwards, eg Malone.

But I hope you don't think Mo Taylor will be any good. Don't delude yourself. He has a good outside shot but other than I wonder why he is considered a good player.

Here are the stats (Taylor 00-01):

    Mo- 28.6 mins, 13 ppg, 5.5 rebs, 0.4 stls, 1.5 assts, .489 fg%

    KT- 34.5 mins, 14.1 ppg, 7.2 rebs, 1.2 stls, 1.9 assts, .478 fg%

Not much of a difference, but even if you look at Mo's prior year with the Clips, where Taylor got 35 minutes per game, Kenny is still better everywhere except ppg. (FG% was .464 for Mo with the Clippers).

    Mo- 35.9 mins, 17.1 ppg, 6.4 rebs, 0.8 stls, 1.6 assts, .464 fg%

Kenny is a better rebounder and defender, and he has a post-up game, so I would prefer him to get the minutes. He really SHOULD be on the bench, but right now the Rockets have to start one of these future benchwarmers.

Now that the team is healthy we need the rotation to tighten up. NO MORE small ball. Cat should never be playing the SF position. Yes Rice should start over Thomas. Rice showed against the Suns that he deserves the mins so long as he gets help on defense and his shot is going in. Thomas needs to eliminate that hitch in his jumper and also not be on the court with MoT as much as possible. The two are counter productive together. One other thing, Thomas defense is not as good as some think. MoT is back and his size and sweet stroke is head and shoulders over both Eddie and Thomas. Now if only he can get better at defense, which against the suns he looked ok. Rebounding with MoT is the sore spot. Thomas hopefully will be traded sometime soon so that Boki and T.Morris can shore up the SF minutes behind Rice.

You know the more I think about it the more it seems to me that Kenny being gone would really improve the team. I know that some people don’t want to see him gone but with MoT. back, Eddie playing great defense, Rice hitting his shots (from the arc & post) Boki can shoot/drive and with Hawkins defense we don’t need him. Kenny does have some good games but it seems he has more bad games than good ones. I see him so much hold the ball, take his first step, spin, throw it on the glass just to see it skip off of the rim. His outside shot like I said is horrible. It looks like him and Moochie have the same hitch. And don’t forget his attitude. I am for him being traded and if not his minutes should be limited and let go after the season. We have enough ISO players. With this being a contract year it bothers me what his main goals are. I think with Rice playing better once his conditioning is back, T.Morris coming back and if Boki could get some minutes we could do without Thomas.

Yes he does have good foot work, he does play a little better defense than the rest of the SF's, he does get a few rebounds, but I would rather have MoT playing 35 mins a game and have Eddie playing both SF/PF than Kenny.

Kenny it was nice having you around but now that we are healthy and have talent in certain areas you hurt us more than help us at this stage. Wish you all the best buddy. :D

Yes that is true. But he has not been hitting that jumper that consistently this season. I wish he was riding the pine now. When Mo Taylor gets a rhythm, hopefully he will take KT's minutes.

The Rockets went 45-37 two seasons ago with Mo T as their starter. That is why I am sold on Mo T.

I respect your stance about Kenny. but I dont understand it one bit, since he can't shoot the ball and misses too many layups.

Hey I said changing your mind probably wouldn't work. and I was right about that. I tried though.

Ever make a post you wish you could take back?

I know I was a little upset, but I still don't like the tone of my last two posts. Not my style, but I'll leave it up there so I can laugh at it later. Ugh.

JB, I know you're a cool dude. In some respects I agree with you. KT at times does make me cringe with his decision-making( so do a lot of players on the rocks at this point). But I love his constant hustle and great d. And at times he creates some serious problems for opposing defenses. At this point I think his positives outweight the negatives.

At their best, I'd prefer Mo and Griff over KT at pf. But I would not want either Mo or Griff at sf for a majority of the game. Might be able to get away with Griff being a sf if Ming develops into a defensive force, but that appears to be far away at this moment.

If TMo keeps up the play he had in preseason(not holding my breath), and Boki develops into the player the rocks envision(I think it'll happen sometime), KT becomes redundant and not worthy of a big contract imo. He'll prove his worth one way or the other I suppose.

I will be rooting for him as long as he wears the stripes, and think he'll have a good year. I wouldn't be surprised to see him benched at some point, but I would be surprised to see him get less than 25 mpg.
