I'll bash you good!!! First of all, you aren't the first dumb a$$ to come up with this idea. 2nd, if you are gonna talk about change, have a real idea, not just a half ass suggestion. You say trade Mobley for a real PG, well who? Don't act like that "trade Mobley for Miller, oops, the Clips aren't that dumb" bull crap will fly, you don't get off that easy. I doubt you will be able to come up with a real trade idea that will benefit us and I'll tell you why, there isn't one. There aren't any PG's available that could even sniff Francis's jock strap in talent as a PG. He is the best PG we can get and he's already ours. I should follow the advice of the moderators and just ignore these clichéd threads, but when some jackass acts like he knows more than CD and Rudy, well that just pisses me off
stevie is a one-man show. he loves mobby cuz they are pretty good 1-2 punch. they only pass to each other!!!
I have lived in the Seattle area 20 years. Why cant I be a Sonics fan? Why do I torture myself as a Rockets fan? Mabey because I used to play as kid with Calvin Murphey and Rudy and Mike the shark at Linkwood park.
Move SF to shooting, and trade for a point guard. If they have to trade Cat, so be it, otherwise bring him off the bench, as a 6th man. Raven
Turtle you are so wise. I concur completly. I think Steve may be the best but he aint winning anything by himself. He needs to be seperated from Mobley and Moochie. Then he will have to pass to others. An all guard offence is boring and ugly.
The problem is with this thread. Sheesh. Stick with the team or, for those who are so enamored with Payton, Barry and Lewis, become Seattle fans. It's easy. Or have faith -- that's hard.
Me Too! People have no patience. For god sakes people we were one shot away from winning the game. Steve is not the problem, Rudy is not the problem, fans who want to suggest fantasy basketball trades and have others accept them as possible soloution to nonexistant problems... are the problem.
The rocks need a REAL point guard like Stockton, Bibby, Andre Miller, Kidd or even Davis, whos part shooting guard also Interestingly, Francis has the same number of championship rings as this entire list of "true" point guards...zero. I always think that it's funny when people refer to Mike Bibby as a true point guard. Look at Bibby's numbers from last year: 13.7 pts/game,5 ast/game,45% fg% and 2.8 reb/game. I know alot of folks, will say that Bibby stepped it up in the playoffs and that's why he got a max deal, but let's look at his playoff numbers: 19.7 pts/game, 3.7 reb/game, 44% fg% and 5.1 ast/game. How is he more of a "true" point guard than Francis?
Statistics don't tell the whole story. Mike Bibby can't get that many assists because there are a lot of guys in Sacramento creating shots for others. Bibby doesn't run every play. Francis is trying to be a one-man show, he is trying to be a bigger version of Allen Iverson.

He gets alot of opportunities for cheap assists by simply passing to open guys on the perimeter or by just dumping the ball inside to Webber. Conversely, Francis won't get that many assists because we've got a bunch of guys camped out on the perimeter who aren't catch and shoot guys. When they do catch the ball, most of those guys are going to put the ball on the floor and make a move, rather than just shooting. We also have no consistent low post presence to provide easy assists for Francis.
I think Steve does pass to others. At the start of almost every game that's about all Steve does, is pass to his teammates(and not just Mobely.) At the end of the game then Steve will shoot more if that's what the team needs, and it often is.
Bibby is a real point guard while Steve is not. I have been watching both a lot. The reason why it does not show on Bibby's stat is because they passed the ball around so often that Bibby started the first pass while he teammates end up with the assist. On the contrary, most of the time, Houston did only one or two pass. Most of the time, it was Steve's dribbling. Having said that, Steve is still the most valuable player on the team. Mobley is the second. So, we don't need to trade any one of them. All we need is to change their mentality. It should be the coach's job, isn't it? By the wya, where is our movement offence. I saw that only once against Phoenix and rare in previous games as well.
First off, **** you Oski2005 If you want to think the Rockets can go all the way with Steve and Mobley carrying all the offensive load, then Ok. Steve nor Mobley aren't good passers out of double teams, they usually are left to shoot off the dribble and drive into a crowded lane. How many times have you seen them pass the ball inside compared to chalking it up? These games aren't some And1 highlight reel, this is a team game...the freaking ball needs to be distributed. This kinda game sure ain't the one with Sam Cassell, Drexeler, Horry, Maxwell and Hakeem. Where Cassell, even as a rookie, ran the court and got the team involved. Theres no doubt, that Steve is a shoot first then pass second guard. So even if Steve has an off shooting night, you still want him to run point? I say move Steve to the 2 where he'll tear up it and if the opposing guards are bigger, run a zone defense. Theres no doubt that Steve is the focus of the team and the team's leader but he doesn't play the point guard position well just like Iverson. If Steve wants to play point atleast set up some offense ,instead of playing the 1 on 1 game, where the point guard can get a pick or something so he can score. I just see Steve dribble dribble cross cross shoot shoot and if hes stopped dead in his tracks, he'll pass.
Do we have to go through this "Francis isn't a PG" after every loss? I guarantee the Rockets could be 40 and 29 late in the year, lose a game and we'll see threads saying Francis should move to SG or sign 40 year old Stockton to run the point.
This thread is an asinine joke thread; you are a total Cipher and a zero. If you want real commentary on this issue, please search for any of th e 100's of threads on the same issue posted in the last month.
You know, whatever. You can keep Brent Barry, why on earth would the Rockets want Brent Barry? And no he isn't better then Mobley. Period. And I'd rather have a young, upcoming PG in Francis then 35 year old Payton. I love Payton, but this is a rebuilding team why would we want a guy who only has a few years left in him?
The Rockets best hope is for Francis to actually turn into a good PG. Right now he is just a good basketball player. If he never does, they WILL have problems down the road.
I find this funny when people say Brent Barry isn't as good as Mobley. I mean I love the rockets but I am not a total homer, Last night was the first time I have been able to watch the rockets play this season. To say the least I was very disappointed. I mean there is no ball movement, there is usually one or two passes on each possession. I mean its almost like a pick up game. the only bright spots for me was KT's hustle and some screening that was going on. But that offense is so stagnant its not even funny. Anyway back to Brent Barry. Teams need guys like him to win. People here do realize he puts up good numbers, and on top of that he is a total team guy. He knows how basketball is supposed to be played. He does all the little things that add up to the big things. I personally would love to have him as our shooting guard over Mobley. I think it would be a better compliment to steves, and the rest of the teams style. Honestly I think we would have a better team. BUT, I don't think Seattle would do that trade. In all honesty I could see the rockets having to kick in more to get him. Seattle knows how valuable Brent is and they wouldn't give him up for a one dimensional player in Mobley. Sorry is this offends but its the truth. To put this in presepective What would you want on your team a player that averages 15 points 5 rebs 5 dimes 2 steals while shooting 50+% from the floor over 40% from the three point line and 85 percent from the line. On top of that his a solid defender, knows how to play the team game and has does so many little things to make the team better. Or you could have a guy that averages 21 points per game, 3 rebs 3 dimes 1 steal while shooting about the same percentage from the floor as Brent from the three point line, shooting 39 percent from the three, has 2 more turovers a game and does not have a team concept cant gaurd a mailbox and has troubles doing the little things because he is too busy trying to score and throw spasims when something does not go his way. . . . . I know who I would want on my team. Remeber guys its not always about scoring. There is a hell of a lot more to basketball than scoring.
Yes, there is more than scoring, and Mobley is as good or better on defense than Brent Barry, and is loads better than steve. I dare you to prove me wrong.
