I think you were looking for Peppers or Strahan and instead found a real good player instead. Mario isn't elite, sound familiar, but he was still good for this team. That said, his coaches have been below average before this season and was on pace for a monster season under Phillips... coincidence?
2 Pro Bowl appearances and 2 All pro selections is not elite? He's not Strahan or Peppers but hell, Super Mario is still elite.
The same peppers who only grabbed three sacks in one full season? Are people aware that only five sacks seperate mario and peppers in their first five seasons? If you ask carolina panthers fans how they feel about Julius what would they say? Lazy and took plays off! sound familiar? To me, Peppers and Mario are very similar and by similar I mean awesome. Mario is elite.
This was essentially the reason I posted the Mario/Casey poll. I have so much more faith in Phillips being able to make adjustments on defense (personnel, etc) than I do Kubiak...it's not even funny. I think Mario is an incredible football player...one of the best. However, if there's any "bright" side to the Texans this year it's what Phillips has been able to do with a bunch of guys not necessarily perfectly suited to his "system." I'm not saying the Texans will be fine...but I'm willing to give Phillips a shot at making it "OK."
Hahahahahahaha...No. I was just thinking about how Kubiak doesn't seem to be able to adjust to anything. Phillips, on the other hand, has proven quite capable. No matter, since Casey is only out for a bit. (Not that he's that important anyway...just throwin' schitt out there on a message board for discussion.)
The Texans have been super lucky. David Garrard got cut. Kenny Britt got hurt. Peyton got hurt. Losing Peyton > losing map mario, aj, and foster.
Sooooo.... the guy who drafted and developed Casey into an integral part of our offense.... you have no faith that that guy can make offensive adjustments around Casey?
