I posted that link myself in another area of Clutch. It does make a lot of sense, but as one poster responded to me, this is also about the players making a stand. The players showing that they have some power here. If they cave too easily, future NBA players may suffer. The owners may decide next time, with the same ramifications as now, that they can get it down to 45% for players. Then 40%. The logic in the article will apply to any future negotiations as well. Simply put, the owner will always have the advantage, and lost games will hurt the players more than the owners, also for the reasons pointed out in the link.

WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski As @KBergCBS reports, NBA refusing to meet with players Monday without pre-agreement that NBPA will accept 50-50 split on BRI. Wow players... its called a compromise. Meanwhile while you all are comparing d***s, tons of people are about to lose their jobs.
It's not all the players. Seems like the "rank and file" players would gladly accept a 50/50 split but it's the superstars like Kobe, LeBron, Wade, KG, and etc. that won't go below 53/47 split.
It ain't over 'till it's over. The union is going to get creamed if games and paychecks are missed. You guys that say they need to stand for something, time isn't on their side. The players will end up with less than 50% and worse terms on the secondary items. The smartest strategy for the union would be going down to the wire and making an agreement Monday. Very foolish of Hunter and Fisher if they don't. Eventually the players will crumble.
this lockout is going to cut the regular season short. Owners are not gonna budge. Players always lose if the owners wait long enough.
I agree, they could get completely raped If they don't agree to what is being offered at the moment...
Last I checked this is the a Houston Rockets forum and a lot more people care than not care about the start of the NBA season plus unless your a hockey fan how many days will the NFL fill your calendar for once a week maybe twice ..
I hope for a deal on monday because if there's no deal, the chances of no season at all goes through the roof because the owners will say as long as there missing checks lets push them further.. The owners proposal will only get worse with time the players need to realize this
If the owners/Stern wants the players to make less money, then they need to stop marketing the top-flight players so heavily. Since Stern took over the commissioner position, he has done admirable in promoting the game. But he does so by primarily marketing the top players. Therefore, the NBA goes as the top players go; the reasons last year was so ridiculously great in terms of ratings were b/c of the Heat, emergence of new stars like Rose, and Kobe... So for the past 33 years, they have enjoyed a 57% BRI, and now it's going down to 50%? For the players, esp. the top-tier ones, it's like going backward 30 years. I understand their situation and why they feel going down 7% is way too much. The owners simply want too much in this case. It's very simple to solve their problems: revenue share, higher smarter GMs/employees to stop giving out dumb long contracts to guys like Lewis... I mean, they want to be like the NHL? Who really gives a crap about the NHL in the US? Literally nobody. If they lose games, it will turn them back 10-20 years. And it will take another controversy like Lebron going to the Heat to generate the casual interest again, and that's unlikely to happen. EDIT: and from what I read, it's just Stern and a few dumbass owners like Sarver and Gilbert who really want to push it to the players.
Schaub sucks. He rarely makes the long throw to anyone not named Andre Johnson. His accuracy on the short throws is average at best. He can't scramble to save his life. If he could hit a receiver in his stride morew often, our receivers could lead the league in Yak. I'm hoping he gets hurt and Matt Leinert shakes off the rust and gets it done.
