he's apparently spent his whole career acting like a lost puppy, he hasn't shown any toughness, any conatus, Next season he needs to put up or shut up, if nor he'll end up poor, hungry and driven over by Darwin's laws.
As far as I can observe, he's the 3rd string SF behind Morris and Budinger. Even though he's more talented than Bud, he doesn't seem to have the same work ethic and maturity to excel in the pros.
People here bash Twill too much. Sure he may have a bit of a personality but as you can see from the video, he's staying in great shape and I promise you, the guy works on basketball more than he does boxing. What's wrong with boxing anyways? It's great for conditioning. Boxing is not a bad hobby to have at all, in fact, I think Deron Williams likes to box as well.
It is great for general conditioning, but you want to condition your body to endure basketball-type conditions, not boxing. Football players dont run miles to condition themselves, they run sprints and in spurts to mimic game-like conditions. Yes, he's a basketball player, but what if he's a basketball player who truly loves boxing? Sound familiar? He can come in with .0003% body fat every year and maintain all season long, but that's not going to make him a starter in this league. Again, i dont know his complete workouts, so i hope he's doing a lot more basketball than it seems. I know it was a boxing theme to the video, but boxing seems to come up a lot with him at other times also. He wouldn't be the first guy to train hard the "wrong" way in pro sports.
google cross training, boxing is a non issue imo. you're really reaching with the "what ifs". a more valid critique? dude seems to want to pr blitz his way into the rotation.
haha funny how you guys think i registered on 2008 and i finally post, heres a thing i have other hobbies and i rather read than to comment majority of the times. Im not hooked on to here 24/7. But we will see when T-will plays if the season start, as for now ill just sit back and relax
Cross training is aimed at improving physical performance. Twill's issue isn't general physical performance. He jumps very high. Runs very fast. Looks to be pretty strong. Balance, coordination, etc...He's set physically. My point was he needs to do more basketball-related activities, so that he continues to learn the game itself, not improve physically. What is holding him back is how he plays the game, not any physical factor. I agree with your second statement though.
haha... yeah thats about right. However, Vernon bought into being a role pretty well and played within Rudy T's system really well. Terrence is a classic self promoter. I dont feel sorry for him at all. He was warned by the front office and Adelman(if only through the media) that he would not get any playing time till he went through training camp. Get over it dude. That being said he will be an interesting story to watch this season (if the NBA comes to a deal soon with the NBPA) and hope McHale has what it takes to get this guy to buy into a role in order to get him on the court. Not even McHale will let him blow plays, camp out on defense, and pout on the bench and on Twitter.
t-will is an idiot. but if mchale can truly motivate the guy and get some good production out of him, he will have been worth the hire just for that miracle alone. hoping for the best!
What does "More talented" mean? Do you mean more athletic? Because understanding the game and your role is part of talent...and that is where TWill/JR Rider doesn't get it. DD
yea, the word "talent" gets thrown around alot and is essentially meaningless. talent is overrated. i want skill.
My interpretation of terms from a basketball perspective: Talent - The innate ability for a player to perform well on the court Skill - Possession and refinement of techniques (stroke, footwork, defense) Athleticism - Physical ability or prowess BBIQ - Basketball sense; ability to recognize how the game develops and what to do Potential - Prediction of what a player is capable of in the future (usually reserved for players who are new or players who have not shown a lot of mental maturity) A superstar usually encompasses a high amount of all those traits, whereas stars have most of them. Then you have players who excel at skills and IQ, because they lack in other areas (Battier, Hayes, post injury Grant Hill and Brandon Roy). You also have players who have high athleticism, talent, and potential, but nothing between the ears (JR Smith, Twill, Hill).
bbiq can be attained through training, same as skill. potential is based on talent. athleticism is a little bit of both. so i say it really just comes down to potential vs. skill. (unacheived vs acheived)
skill/bbiq/athleticism (trained) potential/talent/athleticism (innate) that's a more organized version of what i meant
Sorry, but Williams far more talented than Bud but it's all moot point anyways. Bud seems like a good locker room guy and actually wants to succeed in the NBA and willing to learn, unlike Williams. Maybe we've been spoiled by hardworking guys like Lowry and Scola.
T-Will is in the unfortunate situation where he has had all the opportunity previously to prove himself, but none of the discipline and mental maturity needed.
