Agreed... Seriously, I dont see the problem if Im one of the actors... This is why I despise any type of Hollywood pay issues... I'd pay these greedy bastards with a reality check!!!!

Because the studios always try to bilk the talent out of the money they owe with creative accounting.

I know the main writer for the movie Beetlejuice, he was to get like 5% on the back end, the movie cost under $20 million to make and grossed more than $100 million....the Studio told him it lost money and they would not pay him....he had to sue to get his money.

Ridiculous, and it happens all the time.

Loved the simpsons but these new seasons are just not quality anymore. It seems like the Seth MacFarlane style of writing instead of what it used to be. Coincidently MacFarlane will probably get a fourth show if this goes under.:rolleyes::(

Generally i agree, but these are voice actors, the easiest gig in hollywood.

Millions for what, two whole weeks, maximum, in a recording studio, sometimes you gotta be pragmatic and leave your pride behind.

As for the show itself, it's still good. But years 3-9, or in that range, it was fantastic. Hard to maintain that originality, what have they done like 500 episodes now. Writing a self contained story, while mixing in jokes. They could just take the lazy family guy approach, and do jokes with no story tie in at all
i've noticed they've begun to stoop to this sometimes, and if thats the case please end it)

But its still a good show, not appointment viewing anymore though.

I did a one-day job once interpreting. Got paid ridiculously for only about an hour worth of work. I still took the money so fast like it was on fire

It depends upon the deal you cut, the Simpsons should be a place that the actors want to do that.

BTW - voice acting is not as easy as some of you make it seem, generally you are all alone in a booth, without any visual context of the scene, and you are supposed to play off another actor that most of the time you are just imagining their delievery.

I have done tons of voice work in games etc, from both a directorial and acting stand point.

We had one rule on our team, anyone could read a part.....anyone on the team, but if they sucked, they got cut.

In one game - Conquest Frontier Wars - only 5 of about 40 team members made the cut.....

Not as easy as it seems.

If you hate it so much why do you know so much about it?

I love the way people are bashing simpsons, yet they are referencing specific seasons with nerd like minutiae.

I have never paid much attention to specific episodes, events of simpsons, and had watched only in passing over the years. I realized that I always laugh everytime I watch it... and I do find the humor to be actually funny. I do get a true laugh out loud at least once per episode.

So then I decided to dvr them just very recently..and you can tell some are better written than others.. but because I think they mix them around I suppose I am seeing them not in true nerd chronological form. I'm like neo on matrix consuming simpsons, but I am only about 10-12 episodes deep... I can't deep up with my dvr. those of you that talk crap about simpsons need to be taken out in the back and shot.

The simpsons is one of the great cartoons of our recent era.. and is a classic. damn shame this bbs sometimes.

So back to subject after seeing about 10 episodes, all I can say so far my favorite characters are the mayor and lenny.

so far the only character I find annoying is this guy

I think the fall of the simpsons has something to do with the famous line from SouthPark "the simpsons already did it". They need a new twist to the show or some more characters. Anything to make the show generate more fresh ideas.

when you have to introduce some special new character or twist, then the show is already dead. It's like the sitcoms that introduce a new kid to the family...which actually, I think the simpsons did a spoof on that a long time ago.

You mean like when they killed off Maude Flanders, eleven years ago?

Or are you referring to the Poochie/Roy episode?

They didn't fire them, they're the hardest ones to keep around because their prior success grants them opportunities to make more money. Conan O'Brien going on to host Late Night, Greg Daniels co created King of the Hill and the American Office, etc. These guys go from being writers on the Simpsons to producers and show runners elsewhere.

The Maude thing was certainly a twist, but that really doesnt effect every episode. I was referring to a change to the main group, i.e. the Simpsons family.

    Yeah, the poochie episode

Maggie should start talking..Maybe she already has? I don't know, like most people on here I stopped watching the show several years ago, sometime before the Simpsons Movie came out because I was worried I'd get lost if there was something new introduced in the previous few seasons. Also like some others have said 1992-1998 were non-stop must watch years.

Apparently Season 10 is when they had a new guy running the show.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Simpsons_(season_10)

Read the "critical reception" bit; very interesting.
