Again, Yao Ming is not ready yet.

He needs time to rest and time to learn.

Bradley was also the number 2 pick.

Bradley was picked #2... that's why people rag on him all the time...

If he was a lower pick, his expectations would have been a lot lower.

He also played for a team that had no center or no real shot of making the playoffs. Rudy is doing right by taking Ming along slowly. Rockets come first not Ming.

Bradley spent two years on a mission for his church not playing basketball... I wouldn't exactly call that ready.

Darkhorse...you see the question mark at the end of the sentence....it meant that no way Bradley was ready either.

What's this thread got to do with buying eggs in China on a Thursday?

They are two different players. Anyways, maybe if Bradley had been brought along slowly he would have started producing even earlier.

Night and Day man, Night and Day...................

    Bradley avereged in 28 minutes

    10.2 pts
    6.3 rbs
    3 blocks

during his first year. Bradley has the skills to be a good player in the league but he is lazy. Look how he has played this year.

Yes, he was more READY than Yao is right now.

    A) Bradley played college ball in the states
    B) Bradley did not have to adjust to a new way of life, language, food, and culture
    C) Bradley did not play as much basketball right before the NBA season. Yao needs time to rest.

Also, the Sixers, at the time, needed immediate help at the center spot. Therefore, Bradley was given more minutes than he should have received. The Rockets, on the other hand, have Cato (who is playing well). Griffin can also slide into the 5 spot if needed.

One more thing, the Sixers were still a crappy team. They were not making a push for the playoffs. So, they could afford to give the rookie some extra time. The Rockets are making a push for the playoffs. They dont have time to "experiment". When Yao is ready to play, he will.

What does "READY" mean? NCAA? Yes.

Second pick over-all, READY. NBA? No.

Not really (expectations). He was clumsy as they get! Plus, people thought that
after his THIRD year he would improve. He didn't.

I mean, the guy shot 40% in his first year. Missed a lot of dunks
    young man?

It took Bradley, what, 11 years to show some skills?!

Yao is already showing his skills/quickness in his 1st year.

i believe he (yao) needs more pt. alot more. the more he gets the more confident he gets. and for being the #1 pick, he should be playing so much more. Too bad he doesnt get much time here.

He would be a star with more time.... like if he was on a team that gurranteed lots of mins..a crappy team.
i am not trying to say that he belongs on another team. he belongs in houston. just hope he gets more time. (pt)

Bradley finally decided to actually try and stop being lazy. Now hes doing pretty good for the Mavs. Hes averaging 10ish points and 10ish boards and like 2.5 blocks per game now. Lafrentz is out but Bradley stepped up big time. Its amazing just being 7' 6" can do for a person. I just hope Yao would gain some muscle and take advantage of what Bradley has...the height.

I don't know why this needs explaining any more...Yao needs to get better, and obviously playing Nintendo and painting pop cans is the way for him to best learn...Explain to me why playing a guy will help him get used to game speed any better than microwaving popcorn. It's a simple formula...You don't play until you prove you can play...and you can't prove you can play unless you play, hence, if you are a rookie, the best way to learn is to unwrap winegums on the bench.

I mean, it's not like OVER 90% OF CURRENT ALL STARS AVERAGED WELL OVER 25 MINUTES A GAME THEIR FIRST YEAR, INCLUDING HIGH SCHOOLERS....If THAT were true it would indicate that playing time is the best way to learn the pro game, as opposed to handing out towels, which is obviously ridiculous...And Rudy is famous for overplaying rookies, even when he doesn't have to...We're just lucky that Yao will be able to go through all his growing pains later in the year when games don't mean as much, or better still next year when our expectations will be lower...

Bradley's 93-94 Sixers finished 32 games out of first place at 25 wins and 57 losses. The Rockets are correct in monitoring Yao's minutes as they fight for a playoff berth. A Yao vs Bradley minutes comparison is superficial at best.

shawn bradley's moves : dunk, ugly hook shot

yao ming's moves : dunk, drop step, baseline spin, fadeaway, 15 footer, 18 footer, 20 footer, etc...

HONESTLY turtle, if you had to pick a player to hit a game winner at the buzzer from 15 feet out, who would you choose??

I admit bradley is a better rebounder and shotblocker, he's also got longer arms.. but Yao has more bulk and a LOT more offensive skills.. the rebounding and shotblocking will come in time.

YAO Shoots >75% in CBA and shoot 21/21 in a playoff game vs BAYI under huge pressure where only a championship will bring him to NBA.

In WBC he shoots >73% where USA(All NBA stars) only got 6th places.

In NBA only after 5 games he improved his shooting to>54%.

Have you ever seen any player ever shoot 21/21 FG in any game anywhere??

    nuff said.
