I don't see anger. I don't think most fans care that much. For many, maybe even most, the NBA is what you talk about when there's no football. As long as fans have NFL games, the NBA isn't really a high priority.

True that. I mean the Texans have sucked for all of their existence, yet they are a higher priority for most Houstonians then the Rockets.

I wish the fans could voice their displeasure by going on strike for the first few games once the season gets going but that will never happen.

This just sounds like one reporters opinion. Haven't seen this reported anywhere else. If any regular season games had been canceled, it would be front page news all over by now.:confused:

Why can't they just push things back? I mean say they would miss 2-3 weeks of games, why not just push the regular back 2-3 weeks and play a full 82 games? I mean no matter what option you do, you have to re-do the schedule and make sure that the arenas are open for the dates you need.

It's not like there is anything huge in the summer anyways that would cause having the Conference Finals/Finals in late June/early July. Would run up against the Olympics a little bit, but not overlap.

This will be happening in the next two weeks, if they dont make progress during the talks, but its not official yet.
All you can find about it, its just the opinion of the writers.
but is really close to become official (next 10-14 days).

Stern is a smart dude. I'm sure he'll fix the league.

I'd love for them to rerun some of the Ralph Sampson stuff.

I have not seen this much apathy for the NBA since the very early 1980's. The NFL and MLB is simply crushing the NBA. Stern and the owners need to get their house in order. Right now, no one really cares.... was not that long ago that the NBA was "it" along with the NFL.

I just do not think that most fans can relate to the NBA or the players.

I feel that with the NFL lockout happening nearly concurrently, most people are sort of done with the whole concept of lockout in general and don't want to deal with it anymore. So, they just aren't really caring about basketball right now, especially with the NFL/CFB able to fill in part of that gap.

Also, the media has been blowing this up so much over the past 4-6 months with the whole "the entire season will be lost" mantra, that nearly all fans have probably already accepted that as fact and have found alternatives to deal. Perhaps it was a good idea to temper fans expectations about an accord, but I feel that that constant media refrain has already taken away all the momentum the NBA had after the amazing playoffs whether or not there is a season or not.

It's interesting how the NBA went from having record ratings and a lot of buzz just 4 months ago but now is barely even missed by fans, but that's just how it is.

Honestly, I consider basketball my favorite sport, I've invested the most time in following it myself, but I'd be lying if I told you that I am sad or feeling any emotion with regards to the risk of NBA losing games this year.

Maybe it's because I'm busy, or maybe it's because the Rockets are not contenders, but I am surprised that I don't really feel anything. I barely check on the lockout news as it is. Maybe, once November rolls around I will be missing it, or maybe I won't until the Texans season ends.

It pretty much sounds like the owned don't want to back down and they aren't really interested in negotiations. This upsets players and that's where all the heat comes from.

Sucks, I was hoping to see NBA basketball in october.

And btw Stern should be fired. He's lost his respect.

That's because it's not basketball season.

People will miss it come Febuarary if it's not around. In fact people will miss it come December when half of their NFL teams are dunzo and there is not much else to watch sports wise.
