TNT just reported that Shaq is targeting the November 22ns game versus the Bulls as his return date. This means that he'll miss the Nov. 17th matchup versus Yao Ming and the Rockets.

You think it's possible that he's a little scared he might get outplayed by Ming if his toe wasn't healthy enough? With cato not accompanying the Rockets on this road trip, Ming will likely see 20-25 minutes a game. It'd be pretty funny after hearing Shaq with all his smack against Ming and for him to back out at the last second. He can't be too confident that he'll dominate Yao.

Just to add to this, more update from TNT. Shaq's toes ISN'T improving, and as a matter of fact the other side of his foot is sore which they think is complications from the injury. His timing is said to be off.

He is targeting the Bulls as his return I wouldn't hold my breath. And even if he does return around then, personally I don't think he'll play long without being put back on the IR. Shaq is hurting badly.

When they asked him if he'd be ready to take on Ming He simply said "Who?".

No one ever accused him of having any class. Maybe if he had the toe fixed earlier in the off season he'd be back by now.

Ming will have trouble reaching his 3.3 point average against Shaq in that game, even if Shaq plays with 9 toes.

uh, no. If Jerome James could dominate Ming, I think the most dominant player in the world -- Shaq -- would have no trouble. Ming is a backup center playing behind a very average starter (Cato). Ming wouldn't even be on Shaq's radar screen without the media fanfare.

The guy was joking. And give Ming a year and the guy won't be a backup center. Of course the guy is coming off the bench he's only been in the country a few weeks. But if Ming isn't on Shaq's radar how come Shaq has mentioned him several times? I don't remember Jerome James dominating anybody, let alone Ming, but give Ming a few months and we'll see if Jerome James is allegedly dominating him.
