There are a ton of decent female journalists, i.e, Erin Andrews, Kate Fagan, Rachel Nichols, Suzy Kolber, Allison Footer, etc.

It's the incompetent ones like this hack that make all the rest look bad and uninformed.

This is so true. There are many great female reporters. This chick isn't one of them. She is a good writer, but sports is not her forte.

Just read the column. What a piece of crap. She sounds like a Pats/Brady fangirl.

Allison Footer could write a better column woken up from a sound sleep and shot full of heroin.

I just thought it was a funny thread until I read the article. Excuse me but **** that stupid ass ****ing ****. Every ****ing word of the article was an insult to Bills fans, from insulting their superbowl runs to calling them "kids". To saying condescending things like "Bless you" like she's talking to god damn r****ds or something. Stupid b**** needs to have her **** god damn proof read next time.

I'm not a Bills fan, and couldn't care less about Buffalo, but this "woman" is paid to write stories, and this is absolutely pathetic. Excuse my language, but that is some utter garbage in her story. I would have said a lot worse if I were a fan.

I will say this: I don't know if any of you guys have spent any time in Western NY, but Bills fans are extremely obnoxious. From talking to them, you'd think that losing four straight Super Bowls was something worth bragging about.

Isn't that the case for most New Yorkers?

Idiots can't be decent to their own kind, so getting all misogynistic and sexist on a woman who insults their team on the internet no less isn't much of a surprise.

Seems to be more of a regional thing. I live smack dab between the three cities, and Steelers fans are far worse, followed by Browns fans, followed by Bills fans. Actually, I've only been to one game in Buffalo, but I had a blast. It was the Texans game two years ago where Owen Daniels tore his Acl. I was sitting in the end zone amongst a lot of Bills fans, and I thought they were excellent. Very passionate, knowledgable fans. They kept telling me how great the Texans offense was, even.

In my eight years of living in Western Ny/Pa, I've never thought Bills fans were terribly obnoxious. It's easy to confuse Passion with being obnoxious, and I think that is the case here.

I do think those comments are a bit over the line. As a sportswriter, she should be called out, but the whole stay in the kitchen/get me a sandwich bit is obnoxious and tired.

And, by the way, Bills fans I know don't brag about the Super Bowl losses.

I don't know. Seems to me it is worth bragging about when they're talking to fans of a team that never even made a super bowl. A team they managed to beat in a playoff game after going down 35-3.

I mean, the entire city of Houston has, what, 5 finals appearances between them? And that's with 3 teams to Buffalo's 1. We don't exactly have much to brag about when it comes to football history.

They're called fans for a reason. She should not be surprised by the reactions. At the same time, the whole women shouldn't be voting is played out.

    What?

How did she throw gas on the fire. She was soooo bold by saying the Patriots COULD BE major reality check?

I would have written the very same thing heading into that game...as would most everyone here. Most of us would have written something much stronger than the Pats COULD beat the Bills...I would have said that's my prediction. That the Pats WOULD beat the Bills.

So Bills' fans can criticize her very reasonable comments after the fact. Say she's wrong and laugh...Go Bills....sis boom bah...but they're not doing that...they're attacking her personally because she's female. It's just stupidity. Is it surprising? No...but that doesn't make it any less stupid.

    Bingo.

Her gender has nothing to do with anything. You don't hear male columnists critiqued for bad writing through the use of gender bashing.

Amazing that so many are still stuck in the stone ages.

Criticized equally? This is about her being a woman, not her sports takes.

Are we really crying over sexism... over the internet? The internet designates its own trends, you can't change that. As long as anonymity is alive then sexism will never die.

Anonymity on the internet is not an excuse for insulting someone for being female. And that it's a predictable reaction obviously doesn't make it ok either.
