Does driving a BMW automatically make you a douche?

again why do people associate BMW to luxury? Last time i checked BMWs don't drive like floating mattresses (lexus).

SURPRISE.... many people buy 3 series bmw's because their performance and handling is exceptional for its price range not because they want to pull chicks.

Though for me my next car would be a golf r which no one would recognize as a "status" car but it is $35,000 but one hell of a fun car to drive.

I think the biggest douche is hte one who doesn't drive it for himself, enjoy it and appreciate teh styling or quality drive for himself but goes around instead talking about it, wearing the logo, so on...basically yea the line is when you start showing it off or want people to acknowledge you drive one to fill up for whatever insecurities you have else where or portray a certain image.

A douche will be a douche no matter what car they drive.

And if you are dissing a BMW, you have never driven a M5.

All I know is that if somebody runs a stop sign in San Francisco, nearly running over my (leashed) dog in the crosswalk, I can predict: BMW. And 90% of the time, I'm correct.

Prius drivers are also particularly bad though. IMHO.

Prius don't have breaks. That's what makes it more efficient.

I wouldn't say it makes you a douche, but for a lot of owners, it shows that they are financially challenged.

It's unbelievable how much money people waste on transportation.

    1. Can you buy it with cash?
    2. Do you still have lots of cash left over?

If the answer to both is yes, you can probably justify buying a small sporty car with mediocre reliability.

OTOH, our country could well be hitting the debt wall in the next year anyway, you may as well enjoy yourself while you can!

If you can afford it, do so and don't worry too much about what people think. When I bought mine, I did have to consider what people thought... specifically my customers. I was concerned they would think they were paying too much.
In the end I bought it anyway. They gave me flak but it was worth it. I love my car.

I have this stupid coworker that is always bragging about his Infiniti g35. It's a 2002 and he brags about it likes it brand new. He wrecked it last week and even though some people might think I'm a hater, it brought a smile to my face.

    2012 SCION FR-S

The sexy sports coupe, Toyota FT-86 Concept, or you can call it Scion FR-S Concept (picture above — you already seen it at New York Auto Show), officially confirmed to go on sale in 2012. Besides the releasing date, Toyota also unwrapped few details of the model including its power source with saving fuel consumption and environmental performance.

Hoping this car looks the same when it gets release.... Rumor to be $25k

Love to see interior shots, but if that thing is under 30k, then holy cow that might be in my not too distant future.

fchow hit the nail on the head. BMW's are just fun to drive. German engineering FTW

Audi's are definitely on the way up. Do they have still electrical issues like they used to?
