With everybody except for TMo back during the Portland game, Rudy went with a 10 player rotation. That has got to be the largest rotation he's had in years. He likes to keep a few people on there until one of them either gets injured or stinks it up.

This was the rotation last game:

    1. Francis
    2. Cat
    3. KT
    4. Griffin
    5. Collier
    6. Hawkins
    7. Moochie
    8. MoT
    9. YaoM
    10. Rice

This brings up some interesting questions...

    1. How many people should we have in our rotation, assuming everybody stays healthy?

I think a ten man rotation is good if we are stacked with talent and gives us many different looks to match up with people. However, I think Rudy is gonna size this down to 9. (please don't do 8 Rudy)

    2. Who should be in the rotation, assuming Rudy keeps 10?

I think the rotation during the Portland game stands with the substitutions of Cato for Collier. This of course leaves Boki and TMo sitting there staring from the sidelines. Thats not gonna work if we want them to come along. I see TMo coming in at some point...not sure where.

    CCnetters?

I think we have the talent to go 10, maybe even 11 deep. But I can't think of any succesful team that played so many. Playoff rotations ususally shorten up to 8. The Bad Boys of Detroit went 9 deep. That is the only one I know of.

    Any others?

I think the 10 he is going with is the most solid, I would rather see someone other than collier. If he had to cut it down to 8 or 9 I would bench Collier and then Rice.

    1. Francis
    2. Cat
    3. KT
    4. Griffin
    5. Mo Tyalor
    6. Hawkins
    7. Yao Ming
    8. Moochie

If Tmo has the ability and poise that I think that he does right now, perhaps you will be pleasantly surprised.

It is never too many. Injury is part of the game. I cross my finger all the time.

I hope not with our depth. By the way, anyone know how many Nellie runs in his rotation?

it seems that we have to play these guys. i cant see anything less than this rotation because of the respect rudy has for rice and his new found respect for hawk.

just knowing that we also have

    1. tito
    2. mickeal
    3. boki
    4. Tmo
    5. collier

makes we feel all warm inside.

Like I've said before, this team is too talented to go 8 players deep. Not even 9.

10 is a good number. Once the playoffs are approaching, and we've seen 60+ games on each player, then we can take 1 or 2 out and enter the playoffs.

Till then, I find it impossible to imagine only 9 players playing.

    Cato
    Griffin
    MoT
    KT
    Rice
    Mobley
    Francis
    Moochie
    Hawkins
    Ming

That's 10 already. With T-Mo, Boki, Collier, and Maddox out.

Who can you take out of that 10?

You guys are familiar with my solution. Get rid of KT. He's the LEAST needed player in that 10. Maybe Moochie less. But Moochie is the only other PG than Francis on the roster. Oh, unless you count Maddox, which I don't so far in his career.

    Sane,

Let's not get rid of KT just yet. I wanna know what we're gonna do right now all these ppl...

Again...anybody know how many ppl are on Dallas' rotation? Are there any teams in the league that have a rotation higher than 10?

RudyT usually uses a 7 to 8 man rotation. That is players who are somewhat guaranteed 15=20 minutes or MORE per game.....

This dosent mean he cant have 10 players with 15-20 minutes or more...

Rudy is a match-up coach on both offense and defense..He will almost always opt for the most favorable match-up when choosing who plays...

Players like Tmo who are initially out of the rotation can get back in by beating out the guy in front of them...IN PRACTICE.

We need to keep KT. He is our starting small forward. Rice is not long for the rotation unless he starts hitting some outside shots. When Rudy finally decides that Rice has lost it we will see TMo start getting minutes in the rotation at the 3. KT can avg. close to a double double playing at the 3 and his defense is very good.

    Front Court Rotation:

    Starters:
    Kelvin Cato
    Eddie Griffin
    Kenny Thomas

    Subs:
    Yao Ming
    Mo Taylor
    Glen Rice (for now)

    Back Court Rotation:

    Starters:
    Steve Francis
    Cuttino Mobley

    Subs:
Juaquin Hawkins (Should also see time at the 3 in the front court rotation)
    Moochie Norris

That’s 10 men in the rotation. I just can’t see more than that. I think Juaqin Hawkins deserves major minutes as a sub at both the 2 and 3 spots. As Rice continues to clank shots off of the rim I think he will loose minutes in the rotation until he finds his place back on IR. I don’t really think Mooch should get more than about 10 – 15 minutes a game in most games, of course there is always the exception. Yao Ming’s minutes should increase as the season goes a long and as he continues to improve and learn the game. I also think Mo Taylor’s minutes will increase as he continues to shake off the rust.

    I second Crash's posts.

KT has been awesome at the three this year and has developed into the type of player the rockets needed at the three.

Hawk has been fantastic defensive stopper and helps offense by his offensive rebounding , steals (creating a possession), assists, and low turnovers.

Those two have really impressed me this year by filling the void at the three.

Well it looks like Rudy has gone with a nine man rotation for the Laker's game. Of course this was with Cato out...

This is how the minutes were distributed:

    CUTTINO MOBLEY G 44
    STEVE FRANCIS G 44
    KENNY THOMAS F 27
    GLEN RICE F 25
    EDDIE GRIFFIN C 23
    Yao Ming 23
    Maurice Taylor 23
    Juaquin Hawkins 23
    Moochie Norris 8

Interestingly enough, against Phoenix it was a 10 man rotaion with Collier in and Cato out...

    STEVE FRANCIS G 39
    CUTTINO MOBLEY G 39
    KENNY THOMAS F 41
    EDDIE GRIFFIN F 30
    JASON COLLIER C 6
    Glen Rice 29
    Maurice Taylor 18
    Yao Ming 14
    Moochie Norris 13
    Juaquin Hawkins 11

I think it looks like Rudy is going to be going with a 10 man rotation once Cato is back. Boki is not going to see any minutes until someone goes down (I hope that doesn't happen!)

If there's one thing I know about Rudy, he plays match-ups.

So depending on the team we're playing and the line-up they put on the floor, we could see just about any Rocket on the floor as well.

Kinda reactionary vs. proactive, but I'm not gonna argue with success.
