Need help determining whats wrong with my CPU???? I play WoW. Ok ok. I used to play without problems, but lately the game would simulate a lag but its not a internet lag. Internet is more then fine. Its not a virus either, not one that AVG isn't finding. Is this a RAM issue??? Or graphics card even though prior was running decent enough?? Or maybe update on my factory stuff and if so I thought my comp auto dl's that stuff, if not wtf is it downloading??? Anyway, any suggestions would help, be gentle I'm no computer tech person thingy!! But I sure as hell would appreciate one!
1. Get rid of AVG 2. Download Malwarebytes free version (not trial) from malwarebytes.org 3. Scan, just to be sure your system is clean 4. Install Microsoft Security Essentials as your new antivirus 5. Go to update.windows.com, run whatever Windows Updates you need. Restart, see if that helps at all
Its nothing special but then again I didnt think WoW required a lot to run and like I mentioned nothing was wrong at first. But its a HP p6313w http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...9946/loc:4&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=4120567
1. clean your computer, open the sucker up, if it's dusty, take it OUTSIDE, and blow it clean (i think this is your problem, since you're no expert and that PC is older than dirt) 2. microsoft security essentials 3. you need to describe your lag... is it graphical lag? stutter/low fps? .....3a. if it does feel like 'internet lag' and you only recently encountered it, and you rule out internet, i can only think of that packet thing... do a search on google, how to lower my latency in wow, there's some technical stuff you can do, but i doubt it since you didn't have any software updates 4. do not buy HP desktops ever again fyi: WoW is more about CPU than GPU, and your computer is kinda old
What Ego said. I would upgrade to the Phenom II Black Edition. Should be cheap and easy, if you just wanna play WoW. The GPU sucks too, but the CPU needs more attention. Go in task manager and also remove programs from your start up.
What settings are you playing WoW at. The game scales easily, but you might have to disable some eye candy.
This. Also, check if your harddrive is full. Windows automatically compresses files to make room and it's pretty resource intensive.
Check your TASK MANAGER to see what else is hogging the CPU. Make sure you have the proper video driver from Nvidia and not the one that auto update from Windows.
sad thing is I have a gadget that shows without anything running (knowingly) 29 percent of my RAM is being used. I've checked TM and nothing major is being ran. Sometimes Firefox will take up a bit but when closed that only drops the percent a percent or two. Gaaaah ;S
bump. I'm reinstalling Windows XP Pro on my pc after the hd crashed and I bought a new one. I'm getting an error that says... Setup cannot copy the file: driver.cab Can't find anything online that helps me deal with this. Any one know how to fix it?
a cab file is located on the disk. If he can't find it, it is either a hdd problem or the disk is scratched up. Make sure the disk is clean and retry.
Disk is clean and not scratched. I've cleaned out the drive as well and nothing. I've tried running it twice.
Could be your DVD Rom or CD or DVD isn't burn properly if it's actually a copy of XP. Try removing all stick or RAM and leave one in and reinstall to see if it works. Another thing to try is to remove everything from the motherboard only leaving the video card, CPU, and 1 stick of ram. Remove any extra hardware in the PCI slot that you don't need for the time being and after a clean installation put it back in.
