Weird thought, but give it a try. Did the Rockets actually juxtapose themselves with the lakers? I mean, this does not look like the team of last year, our guys are actually healthy, our team looks like a cohesive whole, and we're kicking ass. The fakers, however, are falling apart, Butt-Probing Kobe looks like a joke, and the fakers are off to their worst start in franchise history. Wassupwitdat? Hey, i wont question success, as long as it keeps coming in our direction. Rockets all the way!!! Championship time baby. alan
Well, it MIGHT have something to do with a certain three time finals MVP being injured. Don't worry, the Lakers will come back and win 50-55 games. You know, if the Rockets can keep progressing, I could see a possible 4/5 opening round matchup between LA and Houston...
A-train, The Lakers are 2-6. If Shaq returns Friday vs GSW, that means you expect them to go minimum of 50-26 for the rest of the season (or 55-21 your best case ). Your making some huge assumptions - he comes back equal to last season with no recurring problems, they don't have injuries (or drug suspensions ) to any other players, the WC didn't get stronger. I see too many obstacles for a repeat of last seasons 58-24. With Shaq, if the Rox win Sunday the Lakers will have trouble with 50 wins for the rest of the season.
I dont know about that many wins for them..Kobe cant pull it off alone..and feet problems are a bad thing for big men to get. Putting 350+lbs on a weak foundation for games as physical as NBA games are is just asking for trouble.. I could be wrong, but I dont see the Fakers being as dominant as past years..
Looks like your math needs a little work, GATER... No, I expect them to go 48-26 the rest of the way, at least, which is not too much of a stretch (.648 winning percentage). If they go 53-21, that will get them at 55 wins, which is a long shot, but not impossible. You're really underestimating the importance of Shaq to that team. It's not like he'll need two weeks to knock off the rust or anything. He'll be scoring 28 per game right from the start, which will open up the floor and give Kobe better shots. The Lakers might be the '95 Rockets of this year, underdogs going into the playoffs, but then turning it on and making another run. This time, though, the Kings or the Mavs might be too much for them to handle...
Kobe already has 2 triple doubles this year. I don't think that looks like a joke at all. What's this have to do with the Rockets again?
This SATAN character saw the word "juxtapose" on his word-a-day calender, and he wanted to see if he could use it today...
The hidden message from Mr. Lucifer in this thread is that Francis sold his soul to him in the offseason, so this year he will get the MVP. And Shaq has turned away from his evil bidding and is suffering the consequences.
Satan...Alan...Dark Master...whatever you prefer sir, Maybe you should change your member name. You have more to offer than several posters around here and people would realize that if it weren't for your monikker. They're not blasting you so much as they're blasting your name. But hey, as a side note, I am a Christian myself but I am not going to bias my opinion of you based on your beliefs and their reflection in your handle. You seem to be a nice guy, which is more than can be said of some folks here (including myself) I've made the argument before that if someone had chosen GxOxDx777 as their username, one would be as justifiably offended if he or she were to be a Satan worshipper. But that's a religion issue, more suitably discussed in the Hangout forum. Since you've opted thus far to participate mainly in this particular forum, I'd suggest you change your username to something more kosher with the masses so as not to disrupt the flow of Rockets discussion at the same time you were receiving more respect from your peers. Just my opinion though. Take it for what its worth to you.
I don't think really matters as long as the lakers just make the playoffs, they'll be favorites to win the entire thing. They might not end up being top 5 teams, in terms of wins, in the league but when they get into playoffs thats when they shine or ummm...thats when Shaq and Kobe shines. Just hope that Kareem Rush doesn't start to step up or Kobe doesn't takes his game to another level or Lakers don't get another complimentary player to help out Shaq and Kobe else it will be a repeat of last year and the 2 years before it.
