my best guess: they'll say something that won't pin them in so that they'll have flexibility. they'll say, "we continue to work to keep the Big 12 together..that's our first goal. we're not exploring relationships with other conferences at this time." that leaves them wide open to leave if the big 12 meeting falls flat on its face.
dennisdoddcbs: Source: All indications are that Missouri is staying in the Big 12. Presidents call pushed back to later this afternoon. someone on baylorfans.com says they'll be announcing they're heading to UEFA Champions League.
ralphDrussoAP Ralph D. Russo With every passing day, oklahoma and texas appear to be more and more co-dependent.
As an Aggie, I could not give a **** if we play UT again. Or Baylor. Or any other school in this ****ty conference. We are going where there will be more competition. We might get our asses handed to us, but at least we will be in an exciting conference, instead of beating up on the Iowa States of the world to get a BCS bid. There's a reason the SEC constantly wins national championships. I want to compete in that. Even if it means getting our asses kicked for a while.
Always at the top? A&M was 6-2 in 2010, 3-5 in 2009, 2-6 in 2008, 4-4 in 2007, 5-3 in 2006, 3-5 in 2005, 5-3 in 2004, 2-6 in 2003, and and 3-5 in 2002. In 15 years in the Big XII, they won their division and played in a conference title game once. Oh, and the Big 12 also has three teams in the top 10, five in the top 25 and is ranked by ESPN as the top conference in America. They've also had a team in the national title game in seven of the past 11 years. EDIT: Whoops, sorry, read your post out of context without the one above it. My bad.
Do you understand that the Big 12 is the highest rated conference this year? Not subjectively, statistically. They have by far the fewest non conference losses. It's funny how ****ty you find the big 12 and how awful A&M has been for the last 10 years. Anyway, as a UT fan I also don't care about continuing the game either. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Agree with this. From OU's perspective, I think Barry Switzer said it best... "I don't know where they're going," Switzer said Monday in a telephone interview. "But I think (OU & OSU) would be making a hell of a mistake to not go where Texas goes. "What gives you the best chance to recruit in Texas? To compete against Texas." As far as Texas, we need another big wig to keep the Big 12 intact.
Boy A&M keeps winning the Big 12's easy BCS bid. I guess it makes sense to move on to a larger challenge.
Bro, bro, brooooo... beep - beep - beep. Back this thing up. You sound all grouchy about this severing ties stuff. The original name of this thread was something along the lines of... Texas to the Big 10. Grouchy McGroucherpuss.
If the Big 12 is sooooo good, and TAMU is near the top of it right now, then whyyyy is everyone questioning their ability to compete in the SEC? Because the SEC is weaker huh? C'mon braaaaah, c'mon. Y'all some suckers.
Aggies are ranked in the top 10 for the first time since they almost got the death penalty, and all the sudden they think they are an elite program. Lets wait until A&M plays some ranked opponents before talking smack. At best A&M will at the same level as Arkansas in the SEC.
We'll know how weak or strong the conference will look like soon. It could easily continue to be the second best conference in the nation football-wise. We all already know that the SEC is a pretty crappy basketball conference.
Its always 3 good teams and a bunch other teams that run pee-pee, ballerina, mega-spread offenses that send their QB's to the NFL on a platter to get roasted.
