This is why finishing college is important before making that jump to the NBA. That way in the event of an extended lockout, players can find work at various places like Home Depot, etc.

If you make even the league minimum and haven't managed to put enough aside to support yourself for a few months (if not your entire life depending on how long you've been in the NBA) then I'd say you're too stupid to be insulted.

It would be better if he would loan his money to all the arena workers, janitors and concession workers who would lose money or without a job due to no NBA games being played at the Arenas/Stadiums.

Its a players union. Not a players + arena staff union.
It would make no sense for him to support the latter.

Didn't he already give money to Lakers' staff that were laid off?

Uhh....do you not realize that will they will work and etc. due to concerts and other events, I don't think I can name 1 NBA arena thats sole purpose is for basketball.

I believe he vouched for the Lakers to donate money to the arena staff.

Surely Lebron and Kobe own businesses or part of them....they should give priority hiring to the players. Wouldnt you like to see that you're next Nike Tshirt was inspected by Agent Zero?

Exactly. I have zero sympathy for players who make 7-digit salaries and can't last a few months without income. It's just stupid money management. You can live quite comfortably (not extravagantly) for 10 years on just 1 million dollars.

he said loan, not give, it's in your own best interests to make sure other voting members of a union aren't squeezed by the employers....

That's a good point. If NBA players start running out of cash, they'll eventually reach a point where they'll start pushing to take any deal the NBA gives them. Kobe loaning cash gives the NBAPA more power for the long haul.

I usually find a way to criticize Kobe regardless, but I think this is cool. And not without financial risk for Kobe either.

Because everyone knows, real rape occurs in the board room, not the hotel room.

lol even a player making a minimum of 300k a year shouldn't need financial help...

thats enough to live off of for one gone season
