I am brand new to this site, and have been a Rockets fan all of my life. But lets be real. How bad is Glen Rice. How much does he hurt the team more than he helps it. Without his 20 minutes and 4 points a game, that is 10 million dollars off the cap and give Nachbar some PT. Thoughts...
Glen Rice is hurting the team right now, but just wait about a month. He has one of the best shots in the league, seriously he does. But he has been out a year, and when he gets back up to speed if anything he will start to hit a lot of open jumpers.
He hit a couple of sweet shots last night. It might have been my imagination, but I liked the feel of the team when he was in there. He's still rusty, but there are moments when you can feel the team coming together. When he made those shots the idea of having him as a sharp shooting weapon flashed its devastating promise. Jeff mentioned a play where Cat came off a pick. I saw Rice make a shot from the same spot, maybe different side of the lane. To quote Cat (on SF's dunk): "Sick." Games will be put out of reach if either Cat or Rice go off on plays like that.
IMHO Glen Rice is this year's Walt Williams, an older slower streaky shooting vet who will take PT away from guys who don't have his veteran savvy but can out run and out jump and out hustle him.
Didn't Glen Rice hit some big baskets last night? He hit that three pointer and I think he brought something that we lack as well, a post up basket. Glen Rice is expensive, but I doubt that he hurts the team, he's our only veteran.
Last year, Glen started every game in which he was available....This year none. He hasnt been at 40% shooting since he became a Rocket, if he stays below that,,,look for him to drop out of the rotation soon. Glens main value to the Rockets, IMHO, is keeping himself ready to play in case of injuries.
