I think Tracy is really really good, but I don't think he's a superstar. He certainly not better then Clyde in his prime...at least not yet. I don't think McGrady has hit his prime to be honest. Francis may have the Superstar potential, but well, so many players never realize potential. I wouldn't bet against Francis though. I don't think Vince Carter is a superstar. Kobe is more a superstar then McGrady, even if Tracy is a better player (But I think Bryant is better to be honest). We'll see, Tracy McGrady still isn't a household name. If he leads the Magic to the Finals though, I think I'd change my mind.
NewYorker: well, we'll agree to disagree about kobe v tmac (i honestly can't think of a single area kobe is better at, but oh well). we do agree on one thing though: tmac has not even hit his prime. that's a very, very scary thought.
He was the best player on the court last night. He has almost an Iverson-esque quality of taking over a game.
Francis will get better just wait. Just read my sinnature at the bottom... I never will doubt Francis, because he does want to win. I dont care what anyone says about that, its very obvious how much he does. He may not always do the best things to win, but he is learning and with his teamates getting better the sky is the potential.
Recently I wrote that Francis wasn't a leader, yet. So soon to eat my words, but last night's game was phenomenal. It's not his numbers that convince me but the witnessing of his unselfish domination within team play. The Rockets looked good in so many ways that they had not last year. He's a definite superstar.
I agree, lets don't forget the great defense we had in the 4th quarter thanks to our defensive specialist.

It is great that you have changed your mind on SF DaDakota. People are saying things like "he shoots too much" and he isn't a real PG. But when it comes down to winning, he is a great leader and was the only reason that we won last night. We were 2-26 without him and would be 0-6 so far this season if he did not play in all 6 games.
I can't believe I agree with a yankee, but alas he speaks some truth here. However, although Mike Bibby had a terrific playoffs last year, I wouldn't consider him a SUPERstar. Horry becomes clutch in the playoffs, but I wouldn't consider him a SUPERstar either. I think if opponents KNOW you were the man during the season and they STILL can't stop you from scoring at will in the playoffs, THEN you're a superstar. Anyone can get hot in the season. Anyone can get hot in the playoffs. Maintaining franchise numbers every time you step on the court and keeping that consistency for a number of years makes you a SUPERstar. People like you start labeling ANYONE who critisize ANY PART of steve's game that needs work "Hating", this is really REALLY annoying....people who cannot take criticisms suck...Who said he will never improve? Please list me the names with quotes. Did you even omit he has a problem and say 'he will improve, please be patient'? No. But instead of doing that, you would make up excuses and blindly insist that he has no problems to his game (like not sharing the damn ball with his team) and make up all kinds of excuses in the book to cover up his mistakes (like injuries, bad shooters, team sucks, or whatever). Well, Kobe is by virtue of the fact he plays with the Lakers. So I'll recant on that one. Maybe you can ask people around the world randomly if they have heard of Vince Carter or Tracy MacGrady versus Shaquille O'Neal or Michael Jordon...and you'll know that I'm not just the only guy on the planet that thinks the way i do.
Remember the 2nd championship drive when we got Drexler we were not that good and when we got into the playoff Rudy T said we were 1 of the only team able to get better as the playoff progressed Well that how I see this season we take 1 step here then 2 steps there and this player becomes better and then that player gets even better and then the whole teams clicks like clock work come time for the playoffs Its 6 down and 76 to go and we are just starting to see the team play like a team...we are 4 and 2 and they have alot of getting use to each other to go but we are beating the bad teams and now the middle of the road teams ( portland ) All this group of very talented basketball players need is time on the floor playing with each other and they will be in the top of the NBA in the very near future.....
Gentlemen, I stand by my posts from last year....they are accurate for the way SF was playing at the time. I have been consistent in saying how I believe he needs to play to become a leader etc, and I am saying that for the first time, he is playing like it. Even Rudy admitted in the off season that he was concerned with whether Francis and Mobley would ever "GET IT". It seems that they have....and the Rocks and us fans can only be better for it. The question really is....Is this the true beginnings of something great as a team, or when faced with adversity, will we go back to the one on one style of play which is conducive to losing? I personally think that they have turned the corner. I hope I am right. DaDakota
or a sprite commercial. grant hill WAS a superstar. Basically, what you said is correct. Superstars just kick ass all the time, regular season and playoffs. They are exciting to watch, and impossible to stop, and they lead their teams to nice records by bailing them out in the 4th Qtr. Horry is a SUPERrole-player, so is Mike Bibby. By the way, I count Dennis Rodman as a Superstar even though he's whacked in the head. If Steve Francis leads the rockets to 50 wins this season, plays decently in the playoffs, and he gets a commercial...then I'll give him superstar status.
