AAU is one of the worst things for kids, especially young kids. Learn bad habits from "coaches" who know about as much about basketball as the kids do.

how many kids end up being NBA players? AAU "can" be good if the coach is a serious coach and or if the player has a coach teaching him correct habits. But all you have to do is listen to most college coaches, AAU is a terrible thing the way its being handle in these past few years. Not to mention, as flawed as some NBA players games are that the first year in college or pros ends up being a straight fundamentals only year tells you they didnt have the worlds best coaches pushing them to learn the basics.
