Ok. The Bucks are off to an great start for us Rocket fans. So from what I understand their 1st round pick is lottery protected. What is the best case scenario for the Rockets to get their pick in next years draft. I thought we could get it as long it was it was #11 or below. I was not sure of the exact details.

So we want the Bucks to have a bad record but not suck big time. So are we hoping that they are an 8th seed in the playoffs and get knocked out in the first round? Would that get us their pick? Or is it possible to acquire it even if they miss the playoffs?

    Titan's fanatic!!!!

It was the first time the Titans sent an offense to the line of scrimmage with Eddie George in the backfield behind McNair to go with Wycheck at tight end and Carl Pickens, Kevin Dyson and Yancey Thigpen at wide receiver.

So many choices, with a full season still ahead.

"I think that might be scary for a defense," Dyson said.

Yes, we want them to be bad to enough to precisely warrant the 12th pick!

Don't want to start a range war, but my recollection is that the pick owed by the Bucks to the Rocks in the Pryzbilla/Collier deal is Top 10 protected.

I interpret this to mean that if the Bucks make the playoffs, the pick is conveyed to the Rockets. If the Bucks are in the Lottery (a non-playoff team) but do not get the benefit of the bouncing balls, the 11th, 12th or 13th pick is conveyed to the Rockets.

If the Bucks pick is 1 through 10, the process is repeated next draft. There is a limit to the repeating process, but it is like 5 years and the Bucks just aren't bad enough to be Top 10 for 5 years running.

I believe Gater is right on this. If they're in the playoffs, we get the pick. If the ping pong balls put them at 11 or above, we get the pick this year. If it's 1-10, we wait until next year and go through the same process again. The top ten protection is only for a number of years -- I was thinking seven, but five seems like a more realistic number.

An even better question....do they have to give it to us next season?

Only in America....do we use the word 'politics' to describe the process so well: 'Poli' in Latin meaning 'many' and 'tics' meaning 'bloodsucking creatures'.

My understanding is that it is unquestionably due the first time it is out of the Top 10. No exceptions and starting 2001. I think Traj is right about the 7 years, but no way it will go that far. The only tricky part is how the Lottery balls bounce.
