Much better to have other people patting your back. Self-patting is not nearly as satifying.

Not to sidetrack the thread, but since when did # become hashtag? I always thought it was called "pound" symbol?

Kinda sucks that he didn't mention WHAT the idea was but it makes sense that he wouldn't share it out right.

Since twitter. Originally, it served a purpose to categorize posts by topic.

Now, people write something they consider witty and put a meaningless phrase afterwords as a "hashtag". Wordapp is a perfect of example. Insultingly lame.

I'm a bit hesitant to post the emails themselves since if the idea doesn't work, obviously they are not worthy of being discussed - while if they work, I assume rockets would prefer to keep them relatively low profile to keep the competitive advantage.

Here are some of the email titles that I sent in though:

    - Winning as much as we can without winning games
    - Draft position trade-up planning
    - Organized GM simulation games
    - Another possible CBA modification idea
    - Contract Negotiation: guarantee clause
    - Do we have any input on what specific clause to implement in the new CBA?
    - PR management about Yao's retirement
    - Any interest in expanding Idea@rocketball.com's intended audience?
    - A potentially legal way of maximizing the trade value of our draft picks
    - In case we are not into the rumored Melo trade
    - Some very primitive discussions on the next CBA and its possible impacts (This is basically the same thread we discussed in http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?p=5439250#post5439250 last year)
    - Potential Draftee training

The rest of the email titles give away too much details of what I was trying to suggest, so I'll leave them out, but the above list should be pretty representative of what ideas I tried to come up with when emailing them. :)

    two, actually. :)

you could be surprised about how brilliant fans could be in simulations organized according to the collective bargaining agreement. The last time I participated a simulation like this, there was some stunning trades that happened because fans went into great details of the CBA and found ways to make things happen...

Probably only about .7% of the posters here will get that. I'm one of them, though. :p

Ah, ok, maybe more than .7%. I didn't really realize that it has meaning in music, too.

The "#" sign is also known as the "hash symbol" ... even before Twitter. In twitter, you're metadata tagging or "tagging" your post with a hash symbol... so... hashtag.
