<iframe width="560" height="345" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/mNlJYSIzjoU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> What do you think? I can understand why it would be illegal without permission, but when we walk into a retail store, from my understanding, there has to be a VISIBLE sign stating you're being recorded. Thing is, what if someone was video taping cops, and the cops' video camera/audio couldn't see/hear what was really happening, and a cop gets hurt seriously or killed, and the person "Eavesdropping" catches it on video Would the state accept this video and not charge the eavesdropper because its convenient for them?
There is no way this should be a crime. It should be covered under the bill of rights (I would think it's a form of freedom of speech)... I think outlawing videotaping cops is a way for states to protect themselves. There shouldn't be anything to hide. Like ToyCen said, it could aide in investigations...
I can't imagine ANYONE, other than a cop who was just videotaped committing a crime, agreeing with this.
My understanding is that this centers on *audio*, not *video*. Still an insane ruling, obviously, just a tidbit to note.
pretty absurd.. if this goes to court its going to cause an outrage. What a stupid LAW..I'm surprised there was only two guys protesting outside the courthouse.
Ridiculous, they are hiding behind an old law that is not pertanent to this situation. They are public officials, WE PAY THEIR SALARY.... Public servants... DD
Two threads in the D&D that symbolize a lot of what's not right in the world... Two adults kill a mother and two kids out of sheer arrogant stupidity - probation. Man records audio of judge - possibly 75 years.
Fine. If we don't mind a cam in our faces 24/7, public or private workplace, cool. Let's put a cam on eveybody's shoulder and see how far this gets us. Btw, I'm NOT buying this whole "you work for us so it's our right" crap. But I agree, 75 years is overkill.
It is not crap, the police do work for you and for me, we pay their salary.....our TAX dollars......we are willfull participants in being governed. DD
The moment you step out your door you are basically consenting to being video taped and recorded. You can't have privacy in a public place. This is ridiculous.
So does this give me grounds to rant about how police unions pushed through these ridiculous laws and that we need to bust the police unions like we did the teachers?
yup its pretty f'd up. Makes me want to go outside right now and Spoiler video record some police officers
It is crap. When you push something completely undesireable to you onto someone else because "it's your right", well that IS crap.
Note the irony of the government claiming immunity for itself and the telecommunications companies that did the same thing 1000s of times courtesy of the patriot act. Like I said before: Break the law a few times, criminal. Break it a lot, mafia. Break it rampantly and without consequence, government entity.
