"Shiksa" is actually a somewhat off a derogatory word used to describe non-jewish women.

Maybe that was part of the joke and I just missed it. Otherwise, good luck on your date.

Same here! I have liked the same girl for over a year, and I still haven't gotten the guts to ask her out.

Okay, you didn't think that I was going to leave y'all hanging did you?:D

The date went really really well. I got to the restaurant a little before 5:30 and my former HS geometry teacher (he was the one who fixed us up) met me before I got to the table. Now, I had only seen one picture of her and that was when she was a senior in high school and that was 12 years ago. Unfortunately, I had that picture sorta ingrained on my brain. She was thin, not tall, but not real short, long hair that was red (which that was sorta surprise), but her face didn't look like what I had expecting. It was really weird; it was almost like that picture of her in high school was someone else. Don't get me wrong...it's not that she was ugly but I thought she looked a little better in the picture...oh well.

However, there were other things that more than made up for that initial disappointment. She had on a navy blue long-sleeved shirt with black pants and looked great wearing that (navy blue with black is my favorite color scheme for a woman). She also smelled good (laugh, but that is important to me, if a woman has good perfume on!). But most importantly, I found that I could talk to her about all kinds of different subjects and that her answers were actually interesting and intelligent! Granted, we talked about religion quite a bit, but it wasn't like I was talking to someone all "churchy" and everything. A lot of her answers were actually pretty refreshing to me. I also said a classic line. After we got done talking about one religious issue, I said, "This conversation sounds a lot like the one that I had with my minister the other day except the only difference is that you are a lot better-looking than he is!" She appreciated that and laughed.

My teacher friend and his wife left around 7, and it was just the two of us. We actually wound up staying and talking for close to 3 hours! Finally, about a quarter to 10 we left and I got her phone number. I messed up in that I thought I had walked her to her vehicle to only find out that she had parked on down further. But I didn't do anything about it because I had already said bye and started walking toward my car.

I was going to call her tonight, but we had severe weather last night (actually 1 person died and several homes were destroyed), and I felt that I needed to check on her. It turns out that she only goes to church in the area that got hit hard by the tornadoes but she doesn't live around that area. Fortunately, she and her mother left church right before it got bad. I also apologized for not walking her to her car, and she appreciated that and thought that was real sweet of me to say that to her. We wound up talking for like 45 minutes on the phone despite my phone getting cut off like 4 times due to the lightning. We are going to go see a movie (to be determined) this Friday. So, things are looking good right now. I am, though, going to continue to remain "cautiously optimistic" because I have been let down so many times in the past.

Don't be surprised if you hear me asking for advice on what other things to do for dates, and stuff like that. Also, I may solicit the advice of the Hangout on what to do on the things that guys are always faced with when it comes to dating (sorry but not having sex is one of them!). But those will come in time.

Thats great that the date went well for you and the future looks bright. I think the fact that you talked alot about religion and it didnt cause any problems was important. You both respecting each others honest opinions is always a step in the right direction. Good Luck.

    Good first dates are awesome.

How many times did you reference the Simpsons or the BBS? :D

That little kid was tweaked, but otherwise I liked it. I did of course die on the seventh day after seeing it, and now I am imprinting this posting without even using a computer. The pure unsettled energy of my ghost can easily alter the magnetic alignment of the cc.net hard drives and leave little messages.
... Don't leave your TV on, T_J, unless you want a visit.

Manny, great news. Here's to a good second date but having no big plans for a third. Hope you have fun one day at a time. :)

    Glad to hear it Manny.

The most important thing in dating is knowing how quickly you can unhook a bra. :D

It took a lot of restraint, but not one time did I mention either one of these things!

I do want her to think that I am normal...for a while!

    LOL @ Refman

I have always been a big proponent of laying your cards on the table from the get go. If you end up having a relationship with her you don't want the fact that you spend time onthis BBS to come as a surprise to her. The honest approach has always worked well for me. Mrs. Ref can attest to that.

Besides then when you inevitably get into a fight and she brings it up you can tell her "you knew the rules of the game before you decided to play cards."

No, you can't tell her about the BBS.

Then she might double check on you and see if you're posting about your dates.

Than the losers amongst us, like me, could no longer live vicariously through the visual details of your sordid evenings! ;)
