Read scar tissue by Anthony kiedis and you will think twice about wanting to be rock star.

The thrill of going out there and knowing no one can beat you at what you do. Give me being an athlete. Unless you play football you can live a normal life after sports.

Kurt Cobain just voted athlete from the great beyond simply at the thought of having to play Smells Like Teen Spirit just one more time.

Athlete. You're not at your peak forever, but the post-career opportunities your athletic career open for you are endless. I'd choose soccer, btw. Winning a World Cup is probably better than winning a Grammy, don't you think?

Personally, I'd rather hit a game winning shot game 7 of NBA finals, sinking a 30 foot putt ftw, or throwing a game winning td in the superbowl than a game winning shot in the world cup, but that's because im not a big soccer fan.

but yes, i agree with your statment. however, all the sex, drugs, and crazy groupies would make being a rock star awesome.

i'd take either, as im sure most everyone would.

He said athletes, not golfers :p

Personally, I'd rather be the greatest stand-up comedian of all time.

Yeah, athletes and musicians get more play, but they also get more STDs.

    I'm stumped.

I don't think I would enjoy being either to be honest.

Singing the same songs over and over is like too much work. It's a lot less glamorous than you think. Maybe if I had an album like appetite for destruction, it'd be cool for a year, but I can't imagine singing those songs for 20 years.

Athletes are part of a team. So, i'd like that aspect of it. I'd probably enjoy being part of an offensive line or a defensive line in football.

Well technically since athletes retire at such a young age, they have more than enough time to start a band and become a rock star after retirement.

Honestly though, aside from the endless supply of teh p00nz... the constant attention from being a famous figure would teh suxors.

    Musician.

Musicians get way more groupie love and you can still be an athlete and stay in shape and best of all have floor seats to any game you want.

It's stupid to think Master P once had a net worth of 600 million. P Diddy probably has like 400 million easily and ditto for Jay-Z.

Isn't Master P a silicone valley mogul right now?

You might not believe it but I think he was invited to speak to students at Harvard. Crazy?

Sorry but I'd rather be an athlete.

I just love basketball that much.

To be better than mj or kobe, that would be an honor.
to be the face of a sport, to play basketball, what I grew up dreaming about. Yes please

    The questions comes down to
    would you rather be a

    Better Athlete than MJ

    or
    a better musician than MJ

Musicians in my opinion have the ability to influence the world far more than professional athletes.

    Music is great.

Music speaks across generations, cultures, ethnicity, and beliefs. Music is the universal language, and people will always identify you with your sound. Being a professional athlete would be highly fulfilling, but being a renowned musician would be defining.

Rocket River brings up a good point, would you rather be better than Jordan, or be better than Jackson? I'd choose Jackson.

personally, i'd go for athlete. Mostly because I enjoy the competition and just love to play sports.
