hmmm... that is interesting... i was able to get it last year.

i called to cancel my service. they asked why and i told them i only had directv for the sunday ticket for many, many years. now that the red zone channel existed as a standalone network, i was gonna cancel and subscribe to uverse

they put me on hold and came back and said "you are a valuable customer... we don't want to lose you... blah blah blah, we don't normally offer this but we'll let you buy the red zone channel separately"

    i said "how much?"

they said "well, we'll give it to you free this year"

so i said ok and took it

try calling back and threatening to cancel. you may not get it on the first person you talk to, but keep trying... i'm sure its bound to happen (assuming you are a long time customer who pays your bill every month)

Very nice, but no way I'm paying full price when Redzone is an extra 5-7 bucks a month with another provider.

$350 is actually the normal price for Sunday Ticket, so it's relatively the same as getting it on DirecTV except for the fact that DirecTV sometimes gives out promotions for customers. Sunday Ticket to go which can be used on your computer and smartphone is $50. That seems a little more reasonable IMO.

$350 or so is the normal price for Sunday Ticket and always has been. Why are you guys so shocked at this $339 price tag? And its without a silly direct TV contract. Especially if you have a roomate, go in half on this deal and it's a win. Not overpriced at all IMO.

How long have you been with them? Last year I called and got their stand alone Red Zone for free. This year I called and got Sunday Ticket and To Go for free. I don't think they'll do these kind of deals though if you are a fairly new customer.

I'll have to keep trying then. They offered the package for $180 which is what I payed last year. I've been with them for about 3-4 years

Call retentions by calling 1800 Directv and then after you put in your phone number, in the main menu.. say cancel account and then it'll ask you to confirm in order for them to put you to the right dept which is the retenions dept. Tell them you're having money problems and that you wish you could have Sunday Ticket. If they don't give it to you for free.. shoot for Red Zone and tell them that it's over your budget to pay for Red Zone but that you wish there was some way you could get it. If it doesn't work out with that representative, call back. You should be able to get at least Red Zone for free. Sunday Ticket free varies between representatives... but hope this helps.

The MLBTV interface on PS3 is a thing of beauty, hopefully the NFL version will be just as good.

I just updated my PS3 and noticed Netflix has a new category. Unfortunately the actual program has not been upgraded or updated.

OMFG. I am in. I've been wanting League Pass for some time and could never get DirecTV. It may not be a big deal for yous guys living at home, but living out of town this is huge. $20 a game is nothing when I'd pay more than that going to check it out grabbing food at a bar. Plus the online feeds usually aren't reliable or quality.

I just tried to sign up for NFL Network, but the NFL and the cable providers (at least mine, anyway) are still having that same dispute from like 2006 over rate charges so I can't get it (even though they offer it). Really, guys?

I've seen some DirecTV commercials that say Sunday ticket is now no extra charge with a 2 year agreement. Maybe that agreement is their most expensive TV package.

Me too. I'm mostly curious if I can watch from more than one PS3. I wouldn't think so, but that's bull if not. That price is really high for only one system.

Has anyone had this luck with DISH Network?

For $7 a month I can get the Redzone channel, along with like 4 or 5 other sports networks.

I may call, threaten to cancel and switch to Directv to get their free NFL deal, maybe theyll offer me this redzone channel for free?

I'd pay like 80.00 bucks a year for just redzone if they allowed me to stream it from my computer.

The sooner these channels divorce themselves from cable and satellite, the sooner they are going to be making big money.

I mean it doesn't take a genius to figure out that the demand for online streaming is tremendous.

Cable and satellite are doing everything they can to prolong this. Maybe netflix will realize that live streaming brodcast can net them a huge profit and still some of these channels away from cable.

Yep, everything is moving to streaming, ala carte subscription services with little/no advertising. Great for consumers.

Netflix recently purchased their own TV show. That's the future model.
