I read that Dumars might be shopping him because of remarks he made to other Pistons during their first round series last year. He averaged 10 rebounds a game and around 8 points (all at 25 min/game). Could we land him for our exception and either KT/Drew/or Walt? Would any of you do it?

I like Jerome and since his salary is relatively cheap, he could be a good role player for us at PF, and probably a starter this year if we didn't get anyone else. He can provide some nice rebounding inside, which is the area Cato lacks. He also has a little bit of an offensive game. Although his offense isn't much to brag about, it is better than Feick's by miles. Also, if we were to somehow acquire Williams and later on get that great starting PF, we would have one great second unit fueled by all the energy of Mobley and Jerome Williams, two guys very suited to the 6th man role.

As for your trade scenarios, the exception straight up for JYD is about the only one that makes sense. Walt's salary is much larger than Jerome's, and the only way to get a deal to work would be to take some extra salary from the Pistons along with Jerome, which would not be good considering we want cap room next summer. They don't need KT, as they are already overloaded with PF's. They have Ben Wallace, Laettner, and Vaught. That's part of the reason they want to trade JYD- they don't need another PF. Same scenario with PG. They have Chucky Atkins, Lindsey Hunter, and Mateen Cleaves, so there isn't really room for Drew at all. It would be 2.87M of the trade exception alone most likely as the trade bait, (to match Jerome's salary) and looking at the Pistons situation, it might be something they'd seriously consider. The question is, if you're the Rockets, do you want to use 2.87M of the trade exception on Jerome Williams?

No thx. i'd actually like to see what kenny thomas can do w/ a year of experience. i think there's a good chance that he could be an excellent PF. but that's w/ every1s gracious permission in this BBS whether we should play him and give him a chance. lol j/k it's rudy T's call not ours and whatever it is im sure its the right one whether it is trade, play, start, or bench kenny thomas or even a combo of the 4. jerome williams can hit the boards very well. kenny T is also a good rebounder though. and kenny T has offense ive never seen in a PF. i think if rudy T gives him a chance kenny will really shine this year. he has alot of potential and here's hoping he reaches it. and if we did get a PF i would hope he is a well rounded PF with solid offense and defense and not just a rebounding fool who can't put the rock in the hole.

and yes if we had a chance to get antonio davis like i said in the other thread i'd gladly trade for him but still wouldnt trade kenny T. antonio can show kenny the ropes for a while. antonio RIGHT NOW is a much better fit for our team. but unless we are trading for mr.davis i think playing kenny T at the 4 is the rockets' best option for who to play at the PF spot.
