I know he's not a star or anything, but he fits what the Rockets are looking for - an aggressive rebounding PF. Remember, he has averaged 10.3 and 9.3 rpg the last two seasons. Also, with the recent acquisition of Aaron Williams, the Nets are looking to trade Feick. He is in the second year of a 6 yr/$15 mil deal. Although that might seem unreasonable, it's really not that bad. He should only count about $2.5 mil or so against the cap next year. Maybe an offer of Drew and/or a future 1st rounder (a late one from another team, of course) could land Feick. Just a thought. Let me know what you guys think. ------------------
That is all we need, another white guy everyone will compare to Bullard.. And then the following thread will come about: Feick=Collier=Koncak=BigCountry=Bullard.... I think you get my point... But in all honesty, he wouldn't be too bad of a pick up. However, I just don't think he would be good for the Rockets right now. He has had one decent year and I would hate for that year to have been a fluke, and come here and do nothing. I think there are better fish out there to grab...
Thats not a bad idea, but we need a big guy that can score inside. Having Cato and Feick doesnt really give us an inside low post presence. And in the playoffs we will need low post presence to atleast keep up with the Webbers, Shaqs, Duncans, etc.. ------------------ Fun Police Says: 1. I disagree. I think that our backcourt can do the scoring and the PF and C should be defensive and rebounding oriented. ------------------ Starting at shortstop, for the Houston Astros, Nomar Garciaparra.
Our backcourt can score, but if you're relying on your guards to do the scoring for you you won't succeed very much in this league. Having your guards shoot jump shots and drive to the hole is a sure way not to succeed. These days, to be a contender, it is almost imperative you have one good low post scoring threat. As of now, we don't have that, and somewhere along the line we need to pick one up for us to contend. Feick is not the answer. ------------------ Looking for next year's Dan Langhi? I'd do the deal for Drew and a late first or early second --6 years at $15 mill sounds like a bargain in this market. I think he finished last year in the top 15 in rebounds and can also play some back up center -- his numbers are better that Cato's......... ------------------
Yeah, lets get him, I'm a Feick freak, his love for getting boards is just what we need and maybe it could spread. ------------------ Discombobulation Imminent

Alright Cat, you made reference to "this league", which has made me angry. Can you tell me who Indiana's low post threat was this year?
Indiana had Austin Croshere and Rik Smits this year. They aren't great offensive low post options I realize, but they're a lot better than what we have at the moment. ------------------ Looking for next year's Dan Langhi? TheFreak-Smits, Croshere, and arguably Dale Davis are all better post players than anyone we have (save a healthy Dream). Davis is a much better rebounder than anyone we have too. I'm also not sure you can argue that Francis-Cat-Anderson is better than Jackson-Miller-Rose (and Best) Add to that, that we're not a very good defensive team. ------------------ The Serious Police are watching. i don't want Feick for his post presence I want him cause of rebounding, defense and hustle. ------------------ Discombobulation Imminent
Actually 6yrs 15 mill is not bad for even a backup. If we get a good low post presence in the future and Feick agrees to come of the bench I say bring him in. Cato, Feick, stud low post presence would be all this team needs (of course thats what alot of other team need too, but thats besides the point) ------------------ Fun Police Says: 1. Hmmm....I seem to remember teams with frontcourt options that concentrated on defense and rebounding while using a "guard-oriented" offense and won... Oh yeah...that was the Bulls and their six championships.... ------------------
Actualy, it was Mark Jackson. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Ottomaton (edited August 06, 2000).]
Croshere never scored in the post, neither did Smits. Croshere used his size to drag his man out to the perimeter (can you say "Langhi"?), and Smits didn't score anything in the post either. Nike -- I know you didn't just bring up Dale Davis as a low-post option, that would've been just too funny. ------------------ "Thick, lustrous hair is very important to me." -George Costanza
As soon as we get Michael Jordan on our team we can do that too. yeah Isiah did it too, but Laimbeer, Rodman, etc. werent exactly scrubs. San Antonio won with inside presence, Lakers had both, Rockets had Hakeem, but they also had sam and kenny, and clyde in the second one (oh, lets not forget MadMax in the first one). Boston had Parish and McHale, Lakers had Kareem back then too. Well anyways u get the picture. ------------------ Fun Police Says: 1. Insulting fellow posters without my permission is not FUN! 2. The Nets just signed Aaron Williams, so they now have Mcilvaine, Eischmayer, Van Horn, Martin, Feick and Williams in their front court, the time is now to take Feick off their hands. ------------------ Discombobulation Imminent
Thefreak: I agree with you in that I don't think a low post presence is really necessary, if the 1,2, and 3 are good enough. Most of you are thinking of Croshere's play against LA, but he really didn't post up a great deal during the year. Smits certainly is not at his most effective inside. Look at Philly for example-they made it to the 2nd round without ANY low post presence. Personally, I think they COULD have made the finals had the Answer been healthy. I do think we need a good post defender and rebounder. With Francis and Mobley, I think Rudy's probably trying to do the best thing by getting centers who can shoot jumpers and thus drawing out the Shaqs of the world. Problem is, we STILL NEED REBOUNDING. ------------------ The lottery sucks. Playoffs 2001.
Freak, I watched Croshere play quite a bit(not just in the Finals), and he has a post game. He is a legitimate low post threat. Smits also can post, but damn he is such a wuss. ------------------ I am so exasperated that I could expectorate.
Croshere was as good a low post threat as Dream was. They both averaged 10 points (and 6 boards) per game in about the same number of minutes. All we need out of our starting 4 is rebounds and defense. I don't remember seeing Feick play last year, but the box score always showed a lot of rebounds. That's what we should be looking for this summer. j ------------------
