When it comes to seeking a quick answer to a question . . . I personally find ClutchFans better than Google. Google can tend to be overkill For every smartie pants with a smarturl showing you how to google it you get like 20 legit answers. So . . . maybe it is a bit of a crutch but . . sometimes I will check here 1st If google don't yeild an answer in 5 searches. . then i am definately here What is you 1st Source to go to for information? Rocket River
I come to cf.net for specific and professional opinion, like the time I asked for help with my taxes Typically, google will provide me with answers, or lead me to simple responses from yahoo-answers
When it comes to any news or anything related to Houston, I always come here first (I haven't lived in Houston since 96). If I knew how to use the search, I would be going through all the computer, IT, programming related threads. I actually think that that particular topic needs its own forum. There is something about reading those threads with someone's personal background that sticks more in my memory than going to yahoo answers or google.
For facts and stuff, I'll often go straight to wikipedia. More complicated stuff, I'll use google. If it requires some judgement, clutchfans. And, if I need wisdom, the internet can't help me.
If I ever have a serious question, I usually just start a thread in the Hangout. Seems like, no matter what the subject, there is someone here who is an expert and willing to help. I mean, who knew that CaseyH was an expert on anything and everything lawn-related? Or that DanDoritek (sp?) was an expert on resume writing? If you can handle wading through all the stupid responses (many of which are provided by me, no doubt...), you can actually get help on just about any random question you have. Much more than you can get via google.
There have been multiple occasions when I've searched for something and clutchfans came up as the first hit on google.
Clutchfan Hangout has the most random, entertaining and informatative subjects of all the sites I visit. It's also has the most diverse range of opinions and prospectives. I have yet to find another site that's It's truely unique in that sense, at least fairly active ones.
For Houston Sports info, I look in Clutchfans, especially for rockets breaking news. For other things, I will look in google first, because I dont like making threads for every question I have about something. If you are looking for a direct answer is very probable that Google has it, but if you want opinions or to discuss about a topic, clutchfans is the site.
Google. This is a basketball forum. lol If you need input, then Clutchfans. If you need answers, chances are you're better off searching in Google, then making a thread, and waiting for responses.
See, you are the perfect example of what I was talking about. CF has an expert on just about any random subject you can think of. If I needed an answer to a question about the Android market, I would much rather post a thread here and hope that YOU would make an appearance before I just googled it.
haha, thanks man. Yeah that is true, there's alot of tech savvy people here, and people who specialize in certain things. So that is a good point. I guess it depends on what you're asking
I have several sites I go to for specific information about things. One of the reasons I do this is because I see a lot of misinformation being spread about topics that aren't in the realm of a "general forum". For example, I've gone to community forums where people are trying to give advice about video cards, CPU's, cars, etc. and just have to shake my head at how most of the answers are semi-right or just outright false. I try not to get all my info from one site - you rarely get more than one or two perspectives that way. Besides, going to different sites helps me learn about more things. Long answer short - I Google all my info because I get more info and I get info quicker. If I want some specific Rockets info, I'd post it here.
