I think when Barwin was drafted, he was slated to either be a rushing DE or OLB depending on the scheme due to his athelticism.

That reads like Kubiak and Cushing aren't on the same page on when he needs to get out there. Also Tate needs to get out there too.
Kubiak sure hasn’t been hesitating to praise his players this camp so far. Only player who isn’t having a good camp according to him seems to be Ben Tate.
You know Ben....Ben has been injured. Ben got a hammy(I believe). We need him to be out here, we'd like him to be out here but we're not gonna push him if he cant go. That kid Ogbonnaya is having a hell of a camp. Steve is doing some good things too. So we'll see and just go from there.
Looks like this was also posted above too but when Sherrick McManis is gunning for your job, yikes! NickScurfield

sounds like he wants him out there, obviously, but i'm more worried about Cush not feeling that great as apposed to some conflict. I've never heard more details other than that he had his patella ligament operated on, i.e. a tear versus a rupture.

Wish I could rep you again rcoleman15, your posts are awesome, I'm away from home and only have my cellphone and xoom.
Kyle Lowry is a stand up guy. It's a cool thing to see that athletes from different sports are cool within the same city. Houston is just waiting for the Texans to become a power house in football, because when they do, this town will go nuts. I feel like as fans we took the Oilers for granted when they were taken away. We won't let that happen again, and for that reason, come playoff time. We may have one of the top three best crowds in the league. I can't see us losing a home game in the playoffs. Win our division and we may get that opportunity.
Hmm...sounds like Slaton is having a good camp. Any chance we use him as a utility player ala Reggie Bush? He had a terrible year the last 2 years, but he can be an exciting weapon when you give him space.
Arian Foster is better than Reggie Bush (or any other RB the Saints have had). And Derrick Ward is a more than capable backup while Ben Tate gets healthy (and will be the 1-2 future combo with Foster). I don't see any role for Slaton on this team... other than a potential trade for a 5th or 6th round draft pick. Even if he's having a good camp, the more touches he gets, the more likely he is to start fumbling again... which is why he's in this position to begin with.
I honestly believe this notion is incredibly inaccurate. Good players along with good coaches can find ways to utilize talent (even if it's an exorbitant amount in a certain position) and help them all succeed. Steve Slaton at his best has an incredible burst (w/ probably the MOST homerun potential on any given play) who did an incredible job off bubble screens and receiving in the slot. I have no doubt he can have Reggie Bush (in the college years) type impact on the field if given the opportunity and if he has gotten it right up there which it seems he has. Based on the pre-season I'm actually really looking forward to seeing what he has the capability of doing. If he is actually where everyone has been perceiving him to be if I were Kubiak I would keep him 3rd in the depth chart still but throw him in the slot once every other offensive series just to give opposing defenses a complete change of pace. And by the way his trade value has the potential of being a lot more which is why the Texans didn't out right cut him. He's had a 1000+ yard season in the NFL. Once he shows he can do it again he should be valued higher than a 6th.
