Nice. As a contributor, Yao definitely deserves to be in the hall. He was David Stern's wet dream come true.

I have no issue with Yao going in as a contributor. There should be no debate about it either. Now going in as a player...that's a different story.

As a contributor Yao deserves it. As a player maybe not.

I agree, as a player he would tarnish the image of being a hall of fame player....either way, congrats to Yao

Seems the contributor category is intentionally vague just for situations like this. I dont have much problem with it. As long as they use good judgement.

Yao was decent enough as a player to be a contributer.

I agree with others that perhaps not as a contributor, but hell, if Walton can get in, who am I to argue. LOL

No doubt he'll be there in 2012. This nomination is just a formal reason to induct him

Kinda surprised but I feel really happy for him. This is thread is the second best this offseason in terms of nice emotions. First and by far was the message that Mike Brown didn't want to coach our team. This was just a God Given gift

The hall is not just for the NBA, so Yao definitly belongs.

At first I would think the same, "If Walton can..." but now I'm more in the mindset of, "If Mullin can..."

Mullin was was a really good player, maybe even great, but HOF? I'd like to hear a case that would objectively be both FOR him and AGAINST Yao.

Otherwise, if Mullin can...then Yao can IMO.
