You beat my edit. I would also say I don't believe it is their preference to be on these programs. That doesn't prevent these programs from being flawed. For instance, they may choose not to work because the benefits outweigh the potential income. With so many programs being all or nothing, it can be costly to make more money.
right. one's the equivalent of a car crash where the cars are totaled...the other is a fender bender. and those in power have brainwashed our country to believe the latter is the more serious offense.
It just pains me to see the whole flawed food-stamp system in place. Growing up in a typical middle-class household, my parents had their struggles, just like any other parents; however, we scrimped and saved and went without a couple of things whenever that happened; thus, all we had to do was work as hard as we could in order to live comfortably. Sometimes they wouldn't get any sleep, which spurred me to work hard and long on anything important that I did. I've been working at a Kroger in Jersey Village for about 9 months, so I've seen a lot of people that use food stamps, and it's not just minorities; it's everybody! Alas, I don't understand how these same people on food stamps can POSSIBLY afford to drive in new/late-model Lexuses, high-end Ford/Chevy/Dodge trucks, or even Cadillacs! What ever happened to working hard?!
