Future Astro minor leaguer? “@JonathanMayoB3: From the East Coast Showcase: Scouts buzzing over Lance McCullers and Lucas Sims. McCullers hit 100 mph on the stadium gun in 1st inning”
By the way, here's Tri-City manager Stubby Clapp in tirade mode, convinced that Matt Duffy was hit by a pitch. This happened on Sunday. <iframe width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/bLlAba4DgEU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
The dearly departed corner infielders were in the OKC lineup last night. One of them mashed, the other not so much. The Redhawks scored 2 in the top of the 9th to earn a 7-6 win over Vegas. Mike Ness pitched 4 1/3 innings of relief for the victory, despite allowing 2 homers. He also walked 1 and struck out 3.
Good pitching matchup tonight in CC...Clemens and Wieland. Both guys debuting with thier new orgs. Wieland threw a no-no last time out. The Padres are going to have a really nice rotation in 2013. The pitchers they acquired for Adams are legit and made for their ballpark. Throw in Latos and Casey Kelly who they got for Adrian Gonzalez...future looks bright for The Friars.
is Wallace still a viable option at 3B? I know his glove work has come into question, hence the move the 1B. but with Singleton in the fold, I would be interested to see what Wallace can do.
No. Rather have Paredes and then possibly Kvasnicka. Wallace is going to be either trade fodder or future dh when we go to the AL (ugh)
Singleton might be a better a long term third base option than Wallace. Singleton probably has at least two years to learn the position before getting to The Show.
Wallace wouldn't need to learn the position. He was a 3B. I think there were concerns about his range, as to why the switch.
His name was perfect for his style of play when he was in the big leagues. He was this plucky leadoff/#2 hitter who had no power and really just got by on effort.
Excellent outing for Paul Clemens...6 innings 1 R 0 ER 7 SO 5 BB 3/8 GO/FO He had to work around a couple of errors which raised his PC and BB but overall did very well in his debut.
