Convulsions as a result of sever brain trauma. Swelling and internal bleeding is probably what led to him eventually bleeding profusely from the brain. Certain death there.
Motorcyles should be banned or make new lanes for them. We have a lot of money to spend on construction anyways.
Cars and trucks should be banned and everyone should have to ride motorcycles. Current infrastructure would last longer, less dependence on oil, less gas consumption and much less traffic.
Reading the description of his head busted wide open made me squirm. Though if I werein your position I would probably be in shock.
Yeah I would imagine had the OP been walking down the street and he saw the crash (or heard it behind him) it would've been frightening. Definitely think being in the comfort of his car played a role. It was like theater; he was safe in the crowd.
No, if you are a safe driver and dont go speeding around recklessly, you can ride for a long time and stay alive. I know plenty of people who dont treat their bikes as race cars, and they have never sustained serious injuries. Me personally, I value my life, so when I ride I ride safe and keep my head(my helmeted head no less) on a swivel, always watching out for other drivers. In the several years I rode every day I only had to lay it down once when a reckless car driver pulled out in front of me. As for the OP, I think you may not have felt it at the time, but that was probably shock...you *will* remember it and it *might* even come back to bother you later. Hard to say for sure, everyone responds a little differently to situations like this.
held my dad's hand while he died; wasn't unexpected, but still pretty intense. later had to help carry him out of the house in a body bag, loaded him into the hearse; too heavy for the coroner to manage on his own. all i could think of was not to bang his head on the stairs, which of course, didn't make any sense.
When I was little (not sure of exact age, somewhere less than 10) the car in front of us directly hit a homeless person pushing their shopping cart. The weird thing is this was on an interchange and there was NO room to walk. I guess maybe he thought he was on a shoulder when he wasn't and the car in front of us didn't even see him until way too late. My mom was a nurse and she got out and looked at the guy (I just saw him fly to the side and his shopping cart with a bunch of paper goods get knocked around) and said he died almost instantly. I'm sure it wasn't a pretty sight. Even though I never really saw the guy, it always really bothered me that he basically died right in front of us. I still think about that to this day.
On a different note I almost killed a motorcycle driver last week. I was on the highway 3 way high way and I was in the slowest lane (right lane) and signaled over to get in the middle and I always make sure I turn my head to make sure the lane is clear as opposed to just looking in the rear view or side view mirrors. Everything was clear as the only car in the middle lane behind me was about a good 15 feet away. So as I make my way into the middle lane this freaking motorcycle speeds past me in the little space there is between lanes and I literally miss him by a couple inches if that. The guy was going about 90 mph easily and the slightest clip would have sent him flying. I'm sure it freaked me out more than it did him. Crazy b*stard.
don't you hate it when you're stuck in traffic and some ****er on his bike just zips right through? I have always imagined opening my door to hit them then everyone in their cars cheering and clapping for me.
That is one thing that completely pisses me off. They go between the lanes where there is a barely any space already and if someone just even remotely moves closer to the other car the bike will get sandwiched in and mostly likely cause a bad accident.
I watched a lady die from a car accident one time, me and my boy and a couple of other people were yelling at her to keep talking cz she was slipping away, her truck was mangled and she was contorted weird, she was super drunk so i dont think she felt too much, she died a few minutes before the paramedics got there, the other guy ended up through a wooden fence into a backyard, his car was upside down and he had a 2x4ish looking piece of wood from the fence sticking out the side of his chest, it was surreal to look at, but he was talking like everything was fine...the accident was the lady's fault, she was going like 80 in a 35 super drunk and tried to split between 2 cars, knocked the one into the backyard, hers went flipping about 100 ft. and the third car was lucky, only the side was damaged but funny story that lady's husband showed up super drunk and high and was about to fight the cops cz his wife was in an accident and they wouldnt let him through, he was like super redneck in the hood neighborhood trying to rally the troops i guess and everybody was like naw son lol
So I saw someone's life get (potentially) saved yesterday morning. Middle age man keeled over in front of the tennis center at Memorial Park at 9am. No pulse, no breathing, frothing at the mouth. A friend who is a nurse started CPR. Another friend who is trained to operate an AED (defibrillator) ran and got the unit from the tennis center office. She shocked him and his pulse came back and he started breathing again. Amber lamps came and got him. He was incredibly lucky. Keeling over in front of the tennis center instead of elsewhere along the trail. Having a nurse and trained AED person right there. I wonder if he made it. He will probably never know the names of the people who (maybe) saved his life.
Now that sounds pretty ****ed up. That would mess with anyone's head. So I can't stop thinking about the accident despite the fact that I'm still indifferent. I have no idea what happened to the other driver. I think he saw what he did to the other guy and took off scared. Nobody was looking for him anyways except for me. It's very common here that people run away from these things and not take responsibility because the justice system here sucks donkey balls and the street justice would've killed him anyway. I slept for a bit and I think I dreamt of driving drunk. Didn't get into an accident or anything but I sure was tipsy.
As much as I detest the stupid f***s that do that (gives the rest of us a bad name), I would not applaud you simply because I am a rider. Just because someone is breaking the law in a most irritating way, it doesnt give you leave to break the law yourself. (Intentionally opening your door to inflict damage on the rider is assault as far as I see it)
They are already taking a huge risk that a car happens to get closer in the lane without knowing they are coming and probably getting squeeze in between.
