Somehow, by reading your username, I just knew your response wouldn't be productive at all...strange..
Hey, could you please check back in this thread or email me to let me know how it goes? Would be greatly appreciated.
Yeah, not everyone was a smartass, I was just in an irritable mood when I wrote that. And yes, CJLarson, I'll report back here with whatever measure of success we have with Strikezone.
Keep them in a album and tucked away safely. This is probably the worst time to sell them right now because nobodies playing anymore. Maybe in 20 or 30 years it will become collectors item, sell it then. Yu-Gi-Oh was hell a fun though, spend so much of my child hood playing it.
Are they new or old? For Fs sake the old editions have lower value than the new ones, it's pretty much the opposite of everything else you can collect. My Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! cards had hundreds of bucks value back in the day but I kept them and now they ain't worth anything. Had a bunch of Edition 1 Holos from Pokemon when they came out, some of the most valuable cards. Now you'll barely get money for these, the new editions are sadly worth much more.
Thanks a lot man. On another note, I clicked on the pokemon section and was completely lost! I only collected from maybe the first 2 sets of cards and now I couldn't even locate where they were on that site.
Preserve them. Hang on to them. Tuck them away in the attic. Some time in the future, when you give them back to him, your son will appreciate the day he can share them with his own kids.
I had a giant collection of Pokemon cards... first edition holograms... tons and tons, 20 dollars per pack, I suppose 500+ dollars were invested, possibly a lot more. Eventually just threw it all out. *ebay search* Just saw some mint charizard's for thousands of dollars on ebay, can't be worth that much...
Just got back from Strikezone. The guy said that most of the rare cards that my son had were promotion releases and not really worth all that much. Those were the only ones he went through. We brought a big drawer (maybe 300-400 cards) of Yugi-oh cards and he gave us $40 for all of them together. It was a little more than he was hoping for, so he took it. Thanks for the advice on that place. I have some old Magic the Gathering cards that I used to play with. If I ever get it in my head to sell those I'll probably take them there.
What does promotion release mean exactly?? Also, didn't realize you were actually going there but awesome.
I think that means like a rerelease of certain rare or powerful cards that were part of an older set. I remember seeing something similar back when I was into Magic the Gathering. Some of the cards from the 3rd edition were rereleased so as to make them a little easier for players to get ahold of, but naturally they weren't worth as much because they weren't first edition. I didn't really question the guy much because I was just leaving it up to my son as to whether he wanted to sell for $40 or not.
Ok, I understand. I have a few questions, sorry to bug ya. Do they look at common cards too? And if so, do they just sort them out and state you a price? (I have LOTS of commons.) Also, do they want you to put cards in an organized fashion (same release packs) or do they do that themselves?
Just got back from strikezone, they barely bought any of my yugioh cards. They said they would've bought my other rare cards, but they had a lot in stock. Any other recommendations?? Rep to anyone who helps.
