    Yes and No.

It will be easier to sign a bad or medicre C, but not easier to sign a quality C.

Perhaps my mind is failing me in my old age, but which FA center expressed disinterest in signing for the Rockets last year because of Yao? Which forced us to get Brad Miller instead?

    I agree, but I can dream, can't I?

If we do go the "bust" route, I hope it's with Gasol.

As long as he doesn't mind stomping his brother in the WCF.

I spoke with him when he was in Houston and would love to play down here. Of course, it's not up to Jordan right now; but, it was an interesting thought.

Don't want Dalembert or Jordan; they're both garbage. If we can't get Gasol or Nene, I'd rather just wait until the right center does come along.

There are exceptions to rules that have allowed teams like the Mavs and Lakers to overspend last season, but that has nothing to do with free agency signings. If you are over the cap there are restrictions to free agency signings...

Plus who were the Rockets supposed to have signed? They missed out on their primary targets like Bosh, Gortat, etc.... If there is nobody to sign then how is les being cheap an issue?

For the players they sign after their rookie scale, they typically pay market price... See Brad Miller, Kyle Lowry, etc... They got as much as they would anywhere else. There is no reason why Les wont pay market for a franchise center.

The new CBA most likely will contain more perks for players to remain with their current teams in free agency and negotiating power to that team. DeAndre might want to come to Houston, but the almighty dollar will most likely keep him in Tinseltown.

Same with Nene and Gasol. Memphis might even be able to offer some sort of franchise tag on Gasol... Who knows with the new cba. Either way, Houston can give their best offer but because of the new restrictions it's going to be hard to convince a center who is about to sign their last big contract to give up millions of dollars to sign in Houston. Still, it's worth a shot, but your best bet is to get a similar center in a trade.

No. The solution is to stop paying people $22 million per year to play a ball game when there's a high risk they may end up sitting on the bench all year anyways. Owner's stupidity, of course, but it is what it is. Based on the way salaries have inflated, the player (in this case McGrady) was going to get that money SOMEWHERE and in turn tie the hands of the more economically savvy owners because other players will use the highest salary they can as a benchmark negotiation tool.

    Argh I hate sports economics.

Just because it got easier doesn't mean it's going to happen.
