I just read on the aol welcome page, when you go to the Rockets team reports, that next year we wouldn't even have enough to give Chris Webber the max. I was just wandering if anybody has heard of this and if it is even true or not.

It is unknown at this point whether we will or not. We can very easily get the room, all we'd have to do is trade Walt for free agents to be. The AOL resources tend to be poor. I recall reading one of their draft articles that compared Quentin Richardson to Jordan. Ouch.

According to me, the Rockets will have just above $7M free cap space next summer.
If you guys didn't resign Mobley you would have around $11-12M free.
So this is it. Mediocrity forever.

What about Dream's cap space? The cap space will be getting after Dream retires this year?

    ------------------
Francis out top, 9 seconds on the clock, he gives a no look pass to Cuttino Mobley, 4 seconds left, Mobley passes to an open Langhi in the corner with 1 second left! Langhi at the buzzer.......YES!!! How Sweet It Is!!

This just adds more fuel to the idea of making a move for Grant.

See the Rastaman thread for more info.

I calculated our cap space to be more like 5 or 6 mil. The team salary cap will probably only be around 38 mil next year and not 40 mil like some people have suggested. If we want to have enough space we need to trade Walt for some overpriced player who has only 1 more year left on his contract... Laetner, Mullins etc. Then we can renouce them at the end of the season and get Webber. Otherwise we would have to hope to do a sign and trade with Sacramento (giving up something of value)and compete with every other team in the NBA. So if Walt finishes the season with us then I would say our chances of landing Webber are slim. And even if we do manage to trade Walt then we still have to compete with Miami and some other teams with cap space next year. I agree with Thanos let's go after Grant.

Corey Benjamin-Congratulations! Your team is officially the worst in the NBA, as even the CLIPPERS improved.

At least our GM didn't pick a player who played the same position as our best player (Fizer), or trade away the exact player they needed (Mihm) for someone who is rumored to be feuding with the coach (Crawford). Enjoy Ron Mercer.

Ok. You just can't say it. I'll say again - Mediocrity forever for the Rockets.
Everyone here thinks the Bulls will be the worst team next season, but everyone is wrong.
Ok, we didn't get a few top free agents, but I'm happy we came out with one brave guy in Ron Mercer. He isn't that much expensive, and he's a 16-17 point per game carier scorer. I don't think Houston have a SG with that average in S.Anderson or Mobley.
Also we added two more future stars in this league in Fizer (especialy) and Crawford.
Also Crafword and Corey Benjamin could be turned into Jermaine O'Neal and Erick Barkley, according to some reports.

    So,
the Bulls had 17 wins last season,but...
they added - Fizer (4th pick),Crawford (8th pick),Mercer and Tarlac (4-year,$12M - yet to be signed). And that's all for now, more bull time ahead for signing some free agents.
the Bulls lost - Starks and R.Brown so far.

Now the Rockets - added Langhi (30+ pick), Collier (???) and ... nobody.
Lost - T.Massenburg and nobody else (this was Houston's biggest mistake this summer)

Final thought - At least we improved by lets say 300% over you this summer so far.
At least we are in East, and I can still hope for playoffs this season.

I bet in my life that Langhi, your best new player this summer, wont score more than 4 points per game next season.

    I'll watch you closely.

Mobley averaged 16 points a game last year and was a much larger FA commodity than Mercer. Also Shandon does something you only wish Mercer did- defend. As for your team- what have you done so special? Chicago is about the biggest joke in the world. You couldn't get any FA to come play for you except 3rd tier free agents, and the only way you got Fizer and Crawford is because you have to tank. And even then they were really horrible picks. Fizer plays the same position as your best player, and Crawford can't even get along with your coach! Plus you haven't even seen what the Rockets will do with their trade exception, something you guys could only dream of having. The rest of your post here is so biased it's ridiculous. The Bulls having a greater playoff chance than the Rockets? LOL. Why don't you try and be objective for once in your life instead of being such a biased homer?

Interesting. The best way he was able to describe Mercer was "brave". LoL.

So, let's get this straight. Everyone here is wrong about the Rockets except you, and and everyone here is wrong about the Bulls, except you? Great to know, really it is. I'll "bet in my life" that Francis improves this year, as will Mobley, Shandon, and Cato, all significant amounts.

Lets break it down for the r****d.
    PG: Francis vs. Crawford.
Im pretty sure Francis would basically tear up Crawford pretty bad.
    SG: Mobley/Anderson vs. Artest.
Mobley and Anderson should combine for about 30 points, which is about 3 times as much as Artest.
    SF. Langhi vs. Fizer.
I doubt Fizer will be very sucessful at 3. He is slow, and he will not be able to defend Langhi's mad game.
    PF. Brand vs. Thomas.
Brand will have to carry the load, but itl be hard while triple teamed. No help to dish out to. KT has a nice shot to draw out Brand, and also has a good face to basket game.
    C: Hakeem/Cato vs. ???
This is the year of the Cato. I am predicting a 16 pts, 11 boards, 4 blocks year.
Sorry Corey Benjamen, Final Score, Rockets 103, Bulls Suck Ass.
