What?? Why would it matter who their names were or what teams it were if the stats clearly tell who's better defensively?
How can stats from different time periods clearly tell you who is better at something? How can an estimated metric clearly tell you who is better at something/
The Pistons handchecked the hell out of their opponents that year, at least in the playoffs. They are the reason the rule is enforced more strictly, after they locked down Kobe in the playoffs Stern called a meeting.
Icehouse, Didn't you use purely stats to prove that Wade has better finals than Kobe without talking about the opposite teams, how each of the finals was officiated, etc? What a hypocrite.
Actually when teams highlighted that Kobe faced some better defenses in the Finals I agreed, noted that all of the defenses Kobe faced weren't great and that he never had a Finals as good as Wade, and noted that Wade still played great against some of those same defenses. Reading would help before you start calling folks hyporcites.
No where in this thread. Would you like me to pull it from your posts in the other thread, which is the reason these threads started?
Well this thread is using stats, not estimated metrics, which is why the voting has gone the way it has.
No, this thread doesn't tell the full picture for proper comparison, like other posters besides me have pointed out. That's why the thread that does has a completely different set of results.
The logic is that you have no logic. Defensive stats are deeply flawed. That's what Icehouse was talking about. Yet you go out and make a post showing only flawed stats. Seriously, that does not seem to be too bright
Why are shots like FG% and relative scoring compared to the rest of the league flawed? Individual stats like steals and blocks, yeah sure. But stats which show that your defense was a lot better than everyone else's aren't.
Ha ha ha, this kid says something like that, then finishes it off with 'that does not seem to be too bright' Oh wow, it's like this turned into a politcal forum and you're on the far right and telling me facts don't matter.
Individual defensive stats such as blocks, steals are flawed. Team defense stats as points per 100 possessions aren't flawed. Points allowed and points scored are the most important numbers in determining how good you are as a team. People confuse individual stats and team stats. Individual contribution is very difficult to measure in basketball. But team stats are simple and accurate because they concentrate on the big picture results which are what really matter anyway.
