If I remember right, I think the CBA requires them to bring 80 players to camp. I wouldn't blame them for that.
Going to carry 80-something players into camp. With 52 players under contract and what, 8 drafted players? Leaves a lot of space for training camp bodies.
Conjecture by Mort I think. Cant and wont get hopes up. Dont think its happening. As Ima points out, most know(notice) we need a CB. NA best ont he market. Therefore the Texans obviously(!) are going to offer him the most money.
I don't want to have another Leigh Bodden year, where he just uses us to drive the price up for other teams. Unfortunately I have little doubt that is what will happen.
Yea ill believe it when I see it. Houston gets used as leverage in every sport when free agency starts
I will be extremely disappointed if we end up with only Sensabaugh and Carlos Rogers. These are both average to slightly above average players, yet there is considerable talent available. I don't want our defense to get to just "average" ... I want it to have the potential to be great. Just like I didn't want to settle on giving Kubiak one more year to get to the playoffs, because at the end of the day I have no faith that he can get us to a Super Bowl. Go big or go home, Texans.

it's the good ole' boy network at work. Kubes has Colorado state and the Broncos and Wade has ex Cowboys and Chargers.
it's not that complicaded. Wade apparently wants him. He's an upgrade and knows Wade's system. There is some value in having at least 1 person in the seconadry who knows Wade's scheme.
NFL Network is live this morning with coverage of the free agency frenzy. Btw, Herzlich signed with the Giants not the Ravens.
Pretty quiet first hour.....ha Its amazing to see the power of football/Texans....its hard to focus this morning. That being said...Does anyone think well go after weddle? If we dont lose in the aso sweepstakes? If we cant get the best cb go after the best safety strategy... anything to fix our back def
cant believe people are actaully thinking that awesome-wha is coming to the texans. i just dont see it. although, if he does come and really turn around this defense, he could end up top 10 in mvp voting.
IMO the "scheme" does not have that large of an effect on the secondary, at least not in this case. I know it can get complicated to read offenses, but think about it - a safety usually either picks up a slot WR, a tight end, plays a zone, doubles a WR, or prevents the deep ball. And sometimes they blitz. One month should be plenty of time to learn the playbook for a DB. It's not like we're talking about a middle linebacker who has to be able to read a play from the snap an make a split second decision. Safeties usually know what they are doing before the snap. Besides, Weddle has played for Wade too. All I want is a safety that can cover, not Bernard Pollard part II.
Hopefully, with the free agent period being largely truncated due to the lockout, there really won't be much opportunity for this to happen again.
Did I say it was complicated? Sensabaugh is not good...sure, he knows the system...fantastic. Paying him over 3 a year would be a mistake. If we sign him for less, then I'd be fine with that. I'd rather pay more for a player with more talent, who could then learn the system. Last I checked, players have the ability to learn a system and do well within it.
Another UDFA the Texans signed is Adrian Taylor, DT, Oklahoma. He tore his Achilles last season so it will be interesting to see how effective he can be in training camp.
