I wonder if the Dbacks would consider trading for Barmes now that Stephen Drew is out for the season.

this reminded me of a tweet this morning from nate silver at 538:

"democrats trade $3 trillion in spending cuts for larry andersen."

    made me chuckle.

Olney wrote somewhere that it's possible, but the "price is too high" for Barmes. surprised me to hear, but maybe they basically want him for free..?

Incoming Astros owner Jim Crane has ordered a decrease in payroll from $76MM to $60MM, according to Jon Heyman of SI.com. Here’s the latest on Houston’s deadline plans and other notes from around MLB:

•The Astros are looking for at least three pieces for Hunter Pence. They’d probably demand young, MLB-ready talent, so a deal appears unlikely.
•Houston is shopping Wandy Rodriguez and Brett Myers harder than Pence
    (Heyman/MLBTR)

Is Cossart, Singleton, and a C prospects too much to ask for Pence?

I think it's ridiculous to assume that Wandy's ERA is going to jump by two runs if he moves to the AL, but I wonder if the Reds are the most likely landing spot for him now.

They look stacked at catcher--Devin Mesoraco or Yasmani Grandal, perhaps? Maybe Juan Francisco if that's aiming too high?

    Reds also interested in Pence

The intradivision thing makes it complicated, but maybe we'll see a Pence-Wandy blockbuster.

“@SethBernstein67: Sitting a few feet away from #Braves GM Frank Wren. He definitely just got off the phone with #Astros GM Ed Wade. #fascinatingstuff”

    Phillies covet Pence (via MLBTR)

This Philadelphia-based item speculates that Dom Brown plus Singleton or a pitching prospect could get Pence, and that "[a]ction on Pence is high." Score!

Just saw that, i'll start my imaginary trade machine...

Pence for Biddle, Colvin and Singleton would be a HUGE net for Wade.

Colvin for Beltran is also a real possibility but the Mets better be eating his whole salary.

I'll miss Pence and his 6-pack of Red Bull induced energy level.

Interestingly enough Sebastian Valle has also been pulled from his game one level down.

Colvin and Valle is WAY to much for Beltran....and Beltran has not been pulled.

Colvin does have some injury history so...
