via Ace, JAy Carney, and Verum Serum, a study in contrasts, and what it means to actually lead the country as a chief executive, instead of leading from (out of your) behind. Jay: White House press secretary Jay Carney argues, with a straight face, that leadership means waiting for House and Senate negotiators to come up with a plan: TAPPER: OK. The House is passing something that many observers feel would never pass the Senate and the president has said he would veto. The Senate is passing — the McConnell-Reid plan, it’s not clear that that could pass the House. The Gang of Seven plan, it’s not clear that that could pass the House. Would this not be an opportune time for a president to lead and say, this — CARNEY: Leadership is not proposing a plan for the sake of having it voted up or down, and likely voted down because it is — look, you know how this town works and how Congress works. If an individual, whether Democrat or Republican leader, steps forward and says, this is my plan and solely my plan, it makes it a lot harder for that plan to be the basis for a bipartisan compromise. The way to reach a bipartisan compromise is in bipartisan negotiations where a plan emerges that is the product of that negotiation and is supported by Republicans and Democrats and then presented. Otherwise, your chances of actually achieving something diminish greatly. the vid: Spoiler <iframe width="640" height="510" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/A4Lxk0C2JJ8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> and now, the fat man sings: <iframe width="853" height="510" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/svYJk8KAbnQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Christie would mop the floor with Chauncey Hussein Gardner, but, he's not running... Hope he loses some weight. And it looks like he needs his blood pressure checked. He doesn't look healthy.
Umm, balancing the budget for a state the size of New Jersey is one thing. Balancing a budget for one of the largest countries in the world, both in size and population, is a "whole 'nother animal." Unlike many, I think talks are progressing at exactly the rate as they should. It's just that in our Facebook-Twitter-24-Hour-News World, we want everything to be resolved...yesterday. Now, if August 2 passes and the debt ceiling hasn't been raised, or if they don't have a plan by then, then the American people deserve to bring the wrath down on all of them.
i'm just looking at the text and i don't get it. isn't obama supporting bipartisan plans coming out of the senate, he's not supporting some individual's plan. you're all over the board basso, you say you love ryan's plan, well he's an individual, or mconnell's or whomever next week's flavor is. i guess if you support a democrat's plan you're not leading?
I still can't get over this dude taking a helicopter to his son's little league game then taking a car the hundred feet from the copter to the field.
its not cool to talk about fat people not doing as much work as the rest of us okay i know that joke was already played but com on
what's Obama's plan? does he have one, other than "ya'll work it out while i stand here and scare grandma?
obama, wanted to work on the grand plan, house republican's balked. i know its new talking point, obama hasn't offered a plan, but the republicans have already lost the message battle, because they were inflexible
The Progressive Caucus has had a plan for something like a few months now, not that the President or the Republicans will consider it due to their bats*** crazy stance on tax. http://cpc.grijalva.house.gov/index.cfm?sectionid=70 Which begs the question, where is the in-depth Republican plan? All you hear is "spending cuts, spending cuts, spending cuts". It's the same as me saying I'm going to solve my financial woes by learning how to stop eating.
see northside's post, also, this is a bit disingenuous since the negotiation can't get this far because if obama puts entitlements on the table, there has to be revenue talk so can you name a single revenue increase house republicans agree to i can play that game
President Obama is not the one trying to hijack American politics based on approving spending Congress already approved before. but now that you mention it...http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703385404576259903446373140.html Ryan budget, fyi, was not passed into law, as it ought not have been. It might have been passed by the House, but the House isn't the end-all and be-all. It was basically "let's cut as much as possible". It didn't even balance the budget until 2030! And it added onto the debt from 2010-2020. If you consider that as progress, just creating a plan, well here's my plan. Turn the elderly into Soylent Green Export all children to China Tax cuts for everyone!!! If you can even consider CCB a "plan" of any sort, I laugh in your general direction. If having a s***, vague plan constitutes an achievement, well sign me on, I have plenty of s*** and vague plans to propose.
um okay, there was a reason for that zero vote plan, because it was already outdated. but even if not, 40 nothing but republican votes is nothing to hang your hat on. he didn't even get all the republican votes
