Looking to plant some new trees this fall. I planted a Red Oak in the Spring that I bought from Houston Garden Center. I was curious and went to a wholesale nursery the other day and their trees are a million times nicer looking than the mutt looking tree I got from HGC. My tree is doing well, and I'm sure it will look nice in a few years, but it kinda looks like a mutt right now, lol.

Anyway, wholesale places only sales to licensed landscapers, or at least the one I went to did. Anyone know of a nursery that has quality trees?

I went to this nursery on the northwest side called JRN nursery. They had a bunch of crap, but not sure if they had stuff like maple, it was mostly fruit bearing trees.

The trouble with the maples - and they're quite convinced they're right - they say the oaks are just too lofty and they grab up all the light.

But the oaks can't help their feelings if they like the way they're made. And they wonder why the maples can't be happy in their shade.

One of the trees that held up the best during Hurricane was the Magnolia tree. You can do a web search on trees that hold up well for storms.
