Good stuff. It's nice to see that Yao is appreciated on and off the court, from people that follow other teams. Good read, good find.

The last few years worrying if Yao would be healthy was tough, but damn I'm gonna miss him. Fantastic player and an even better person.

Obviously thats easy to say now, but back on draft day only a fool wouldn't take Yao #1.

It's now so easy to say now. Amare hasn't lead his team to anywhere yet, with much better help.

I thought this part was interesting. Maybe there's an obvious answer, but does anyone know why not?

No proceeds from jersey sales go directly to the team. They are part of a league-wide pool of shared revenue.

If only Les had traded Yao 4 years ago instead of trying to milk every last bit of money coming in from China.

^ My impression of 90% of CFs.

A Yao and Hakeem big man camp would be a great idea. Teach the youngsters how to play like a post big man.

And as someone needs to point out every time this Yao-Amare thing comes up, Amare was never an option. It was going to be Jay Williams or Dunleavy if it wasn't Yao. We might as well be comparing Yao with Boozer, the second round draft pick who ended up the third most successful player of the draft.

If Les had learned something from Cuban the minute he drafted Yao, took out some of the money Yao made for him to get more talent around healthy Tmac/Yao, Rockets might have a couple more ships already.

Orlando, Cleveland, Boston, LA all went over the lux tax line by a mile once they got their superstars. Les waited and waited until his superstars started to have health issue.

Rockets ended with a better record without Yao and Amare had Carmelo and even though NY played in the East. Tells you how good Amare is.

That does not tell you anything. Amar'e had a great season, new york is just terrible. Rockets simply had a better team

Not really, he had an excellent team around him, that team served Denver well. You just can't build around a big man who gets stopped to easily by Chuck Hayes and plays no defense.

Remember it was Lamar Odom and Amare Stoudemire..

    Cato
    Amare
    Odom
    Mobley
    Francis.

That would have been a pretty good squad.
